I love you guys

Haha! Good thread :)

To be honest I think this is possibly the best motoring forum on the net
I HATE the single make car forums for anything but repair/upgrade advice.
I read Pistonheads but could never post as it's simply too large a place to contribute.

OcUK-Motors is interesting as it has a great mix of motors, lots of posters with different backgrounds, all the latest news discussed and of course a regular supply of fodda for the OcUK Detectives! Plus the regular meets are always good fun.

Viva la OcUK-Motors!

I'm starting to get bored of Motors for the following reasons
  • Not enough epic threads. The Iain one was assuming for a while, and then it just got sad in a "Why won't it die!?" sort of way.

  • Too many "spec me" threads for dull motors which are almost always littered with the words "Mondeo", "Focus" and if we're lucky "330i/d" which always end up in the OP buying something completely different.

  • Too much moaning and not enough content about interesting cars and driving them properly.
:(

I enjoy the wide range of topics and discussion here. If you can’t live with some of the self opinionated ***** then too bad. They’re here to stay and of course there is a solution, in one ear and out the other. There is another, take it all with a pinch of salt, jump in the car and go for a drive.

Some of it is a bit in your face but then the views of men and their motors or is that boys with their toys are very subjective. Now if you don’t drive a BMW then you are........ ;)

..... here enjoying the forum. :D

It's not just the comedy but the insane wealth of knowledge and the people who can point you in the right direction. Some great characters here, motors forever!

This forum is not somewhere you should come for honest individual advice, it's more a Jeremy Clarkson irrational extremes hive that is, to be honest, quite entertaining, I like Top Gear, and I like this place..

Having several JC clones and lots of aspiring wannabe's you are always guaranteed a bit of a laugh.. The fact their usually black and white 'opinion' means that there are only ever 1 or 2 cars that they can ever recommend is so at odds with the real world where many people enjoy many different cars blissfully unaware...

Oh, and the fact the main protagonists usually have the worst driving ability records just puts the icing on the comedy cake..

Long live OC UK Motors!!!!

I agree. I'd merrily come here for mechanical advice and whatnot but when it comes to buying a car, I think I'd like to do my research elsewhere. :p

Agree with whatever whoever it was wherever whenever he/she posted it up there somewhere about single-make forums. If I want to know the pros and cons for several models/makes/cheesecakes it's much easier to find the information/opinions here.

I happened to be reading a 1 series forum last night and it seemed like if I'd said "oh hai!111 I'm waiting for my brand new 116d/i to be delivered!!!11 It is red with wheels!" people would say "oh hey sounds great!". I'd much rather get "You blingtard! It's rabbish!".

You get honest individual advice as well as honest collective advice, there are minimal Clarksonisms...it's that sort of approach that makes the sensible suggestions in threads asking about cars that makes Motors look like a bunch of tools.

You will get honest unbiased opinions and information from here, unlike single marque forums. It may seem biased but if you've ever visited a single marque forum you'll soon realise how good and helpful ocuk Motors is.

If I want to know about a car, I'll ask here for general information on it, if it's a good buy etc. then I'll go to the owner's club forums and ask there so long as the information provided here is positive to my objectives with a car. If the general consensus is that it'd be a bad buy then I'll not bother going to the owner's club as everyone on there will say 'yeah they are amazing', rightly so as they own them and think they are amazing.

This is a great motoring forum, with a great spread of knowledge and skill, with a good few posters who really make it what it is.

Lulz often ensue, always at the expense of someone else which is sometimes a bit much, but usually warranted TBH. Some people don't know when to stop though, and it does get out of hand pretty quickly sometimes.

If I do sell my CTR get a ZS 180, can you guys laugh at me please? I've not yet been given the full OcUK motors fail treatment, so would be happy if you did. :) :D

There's a good bit of unbiased opinion on here too, which is a part of what helps this section of the boards to be what it is.

Unbiased opinions? Are you reading the same forum I'm reading? :p

He means it in the same way as I do, you don't get 'BMW 330d is best car ever, everyone should have one' or 'those 19" rimz on y0 corsA is well wikkid' etc. You get opinions based on requirements and questions into certain requirements to judge a better opinion. In some cases, the 330d may be a good choice, others it won't be and will be said so. Despite what some people try to say against it, ocuk Motors do suggest as best they can cars to fit people's requirements...but trolls come along and assume that certain cars are the only ones people should buy due to misreading.
The other example...enough said. :p

There are some very strong personalities here though and that vs a new person to ocuk Motors usually spells disaster for the new person. :p

It seems we have another love thread on the go:

Motors is a ****hole IMO.

I ask for a recommendation for a nice road to enjoy driving on, I get 3 useful replies (thanks) and 100 complete BS replies about how I'm lying, I'm going to die, it's illegal, I'm a "known fantasist" and so on..

:D

This forum is not somewhere you should come for honest individual advice!

The thing is though, most advice posted here is factual. If someone recommends a Mondeo instead of a Renault Laguna or a Kia or something, don't you think there's a reason why? :p

Things do get a little bit "extreme" sometimes but for the most part it's a great forum with a wide range of cars, drivers and opinions available :)
