Probably because it's highly unlikely that an 18 year old will be able to obtain insurance on such a vehicle with next to no experience and you constantly avoided my question which was how? Well feel free to make everyone look stupid in a couple of weeks, I really look forward to it, if it indeed happens.
Here we go again...

:o

There is almost no point asking for advice in motors to what cars to get. The answers are mostly the same. Under £2k you'll get a Mondeo to get as a response. Under £5k budget you'll get a Focus as the car of choice as response. Under £10k you get more varied answers but secondhand, BMW will come in somewhere.
The reason that the same cars are suggested for people over and over is very simple - they are the best of their respective segments. This is based on, as much as possible, evidence, fact and real-world experience. If people do not wish to follow that advice for getting the best car for their money, and instead want something different - that's fine. However, the problem is that those people often go on to argue that their emotional choice is the logical choice, and it almost always isn't.
Avoid Motors if you want advice that's unbiased and not laced with underhanded insults and judgemental responses. Your motives are always relentlessly questioned. Sounds harsh but it's true.
There are a few people in Motors who are very good at sniffing out BS, and don't feel the need to just swallow it like most do. If someone is going to invent some rubbish reasons why they are doing something and then try to convince intelligent people on a discussion forum they are true, then they need to expect questioning. The occasions where those BS sniffers have been proven wrong are very, very few and far between. You have to wonder why that is.

Not everyone will be upgrading and not everyone wanting a DSLR for their travels will need a Canon xxD range when the smaller more travel friendly range from Olympus/Panasonic would be a wiser choice.

Well not to open a can of worms but likely a wiser choice would be not a DSLR at all, the whole point of them is the modular nature of the system (and to an extent the performance for shooting action). A high end bridge camera or one of the mirrorless systems would make far more sense there...

erm, is this thread really necessary. I quite like reading the motors forum. I also like the photography forum. It's GD you've got to be wary of... (ScarySquirrel hangs around there... ;) - what do you expect)

Nah, joking.

On a serious note... I've never had a problem with anyone on any of the forums. I think perhaps as with anything in life - the first time you meet/work with anyone whom has already spent a lot of time working his way up a company you have to earn his respect. Its the same with these forums. Earn a little repsect and thou shalt reap the rewards of good conversation adivce etc. etc.

;)

Shame, could he not just be banned from Motors as he hasn't made any problems in P&V from what I've seen.

Not read the thread yet or the thread in motors yet, just seems a shame when he enters the comp etc.

Exunctly!

I don't think he caused 'problems' as such. It's just he would post the same stuff over & over, asking for advice and not taking it. IIRC he asked about exposure one week and then not long after was after a pro camera body.

Then he has about 5+ threads asking the same thing, and it took months to finally take in what advice he was given in the first threads. Not that i'm THAT bothered, it's just the fact someone asks for advice and genuinely doesn't take it.

About the thread in motors...I've taken one photo of a car in my life (intentionally..with a background obviously)...so I'm not one that can comment on the cars.

Lol :/

There is a Lot wrong with Motors & those that chat together voice it All the time.
We have a Community but Motors just has a few google boys who enjoy slating anybody that's not in the Clique.
I & Many others are Sick of it.

couldn't of said it better myself!

I've had an excellent experience at OcUK. About 80% of the content is right up my alley but I've never ventured over to motors or photography in much depth. Sounds like I should keep it that way.

I love how FOX is getting battered in here but hasn't typed a word. How did he get appointed 'Man Of Honor' if you guys all hate him so much, especially if he's personally attacking people from what you've said here?

*swirls the fly fish rod over his head and casts it out*

I have no problem with Motors...purely for the fact I rarely post there or view it. I think the bad rep is genuinely Fox (haha :D) even in GD occasionally. I don't have too much of a problem with him, as I'm told he's pretty much the same guy in person which is fair enough.

This section is normally brilliant, it's just as mentioned many times - he asks for advice and doesn't take it. He asks for help, and just reacts badly to it and says people are picking on him when they criticise something.

I never look at the Motor forum, but i just read that thread that asim started and wow there's a lot of hostility in there..
I'm on this section of the forum pretty much daily but never experienced anything bad. I thought it's been really friendly, and i've gained a lot of knowledge, and people have been really helpful.

Ya know, thinking about it like that, he does remind me of DVDBunny... though more sincere.

2bl's status has changed from Perma'd to suspended...has he been given a 2nd chance I wonder?? :D

Well isn't that humbling, I'm glad to hear it. I'm sure 2bl will learn a little from this and not take things personally.

Let me guess, did FOX's status turn from 'Man of Honor' to 'Suspended'??
