In nazi Germany would you have put you and your familys life in danger to hide/help a person oppressed by them ? tbh i think if it was a stranger i wouldnt have ,and tbh makes me feel a bit bad ,not that i dwell on this scenario ,just seeing a copy of Anne Franks diary at the library made me think
sorry a bit heavy and all that

To be honest, the nazis used such absolute terror tactics (SS, Gestapo etc) that I'd be frightened into not doing it. Also, with all the propaganda going round, I'd be convinced into thinking that it was for the greater good of germany

i woulda ran up to hitler ripped that little bit of bum fluff on his lip, punched him then ran away!

I doubt you would, because the "oppressed" person would have been your enemy.

It's easy to point the finger and say they were in the wrong now, but at the time, if you were there and German, you would have supported your country.

I would like to think so but it’s too easy to say. Who knows, might have just been too **** scared to do anything or been a party member. Next question....

I would have been ruthless and worked my way up the hierachy. I would later be executed in the Nuremberg trials due to the war crimes i had committed.

my next question would have do you think as i do that the Treaty of Versailles was the main cause of ww2 being far too harsh on the german people?

It’s impossible to say without having ever lived in that age. Germans were conditioned to believe many of the groups being persecuted Jews, gypsies, gays, communists etc were “bad” people and there was little sympathy for them. We haven’t had that conditioning, in fact quite the opposite.

To an extent. There were many causes of ww2. Remember that the young plan and dawes plan made the reparations part of the treaty bearable. And due to appeasement Hitler gained back most of the land lost in the treaty. The depression hit pretty hard on the whole of the world.

Personally I think that the main cause of ww2 was the policy of appeasement

This. If it was someone I knew then I'd try to help but I don't think I'd be prepared to put myself at too great a risk for them. I'd help them get out of the country but I wouldn't hide them for longer than was necessary to do that.

I am a Gypsy so I would have taken all the Nazis on in 1939 & bashed the crap out of them with my keyboard.

The simple answer is No, the safety of my Wife and Son is paramount and I would not jeopardise that in anyway whatsoever.

Experience taught me that the best policy to stay alive is non-interference. I would however remove my family from the risk by leaving any population centres and attempting to leave the country as many did.

If I were alone or my families safety was guaranteed I would have no such compulsion in regard to my own safety and would not allow anyone to be taken if I was able to stop or avoid it.
