Still within the same industry, however a recent promotion has landed me the title of Regional Business Improvement Manager. It's a bit of a vague title, but it basically means I review performance, processes and analyse waste, problems and issues, help to resolve problems, improve efficiency, and therefore increase productivity whilst reducing direct labour and other costs associated with it. Devise new processes, or improve current ones, and effectively try to get more "bang" for our buck. Obviously this all has to take place without affecting current business, to help enhance and maintain our extremely strict procedures and auditability.
It's busy and it does mean I'm all around the LSE region but it's great fun, very exciting. Targets are to try and get all business units to perform above 35% NM, with the aim to hitting 40%... it's going to be a busy year!
