Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

GGs arth. :) Perfect timing aswel for the footy highlights...

last session 10-9 to me

this session 10-9 to you

Can't get much closer, although you flick through 6 characters and I use 1 :o

Since you switched over more to Rufus I have gotten weaker against Gouken and am only now starting to feel more confident against Rufus, so more Gouken please. :p

I give up even trying to learn the El Fuerte matchup, that guy infuriates me lol, he's like a comedy character with the most stupid moves!

Any more tips in general though?

nice games today Artheas as well. i think i am slowing regaining some of my form, i was trying to rush a bit more with chun li, had some success but probably did too many random move and jump in (i know playing like that would get fa the crap out of me by adz). although i did think you went easy on me today.

that rufus ultra 2 is very annoying, easily one of the best ultra of the game. it beats just about everything it touches. i thought my cody ultra 2 would stop it, but the sand went straight though, even after i jumped backward to make sure i am not doing it on your start up...i gonna upload that bit on youtube because its funny as hell.

el fuerte is annoying as well...well at least for chun li, but not as much for blanka. the electricity seems to beat most of fuerte's mind games.

but with chun li, unless i score some good damage or a knock down first, i would probably never get up from a knock down, as fuerte's mind games is too strong for chun li's limited reversal or wake up options, i probably should back dash or fa on wake up more, but its quite hard if you dont know whats coming next. i find a odd jumping in works quite well against him. it enables me to put some good pressure on him.

You've probably noticed a large number of times where i stop a block string halfway through, waiting for your dragon punch, and half the time when i do this, i get thrown. Against you, my close range offense definitely isn't as 'pressurising' as against others. And Gouken is definitely not a close range char, whereas Rufus is. I reckon that's why.
I don't like Gouken that much anymore.. his weaknesses are overwhelming.

You do better than before in the ELF fights. When you jump backwards in the corner as a defense, don't be predictable with them. It's easy to catch you with a guacamole for a knockdown. Also, don't jump in on ELF when he has Ultra1.

Tips in general - how about giving me tips for a change? I feel like i've gotten worse in the last 3 or 4 weeks - very noticeable when playing against randoms.

You seemed to use pokes a hell of a lot better, making it hard to get into the range i wanted. You did a few tick throws, and i was hoping you'd do them more often! I need more practice against those, and you know i don't mash out moves against you on wakeup/during blockstrings so it's safe for you most of the time to do so.

With Chun against ELF.. I dont know Chun at all, but you'd probably need to make good use of her movement. Use pokes and Neutral/backwards jump + your best aerial attack as a defense.
After being knocked down, i think backdash or block are her best options. I seem to recall a Chun backdashing out of all my wakeup stuff. I dont think FA is good against ELF since his grabs all beat it.

"ELF can be tricky, but nothing Chun can't handle. Blocked Frog Splashes will leave him very vulnerable. The run throw will be his best way of hurting you, but you can beat that with EX SBK. Be careful though, as many of Fuerte's air attack do defeat EX SBK. Many Fuerte players like to use FA tricks, but if you sit on ultra you can make them pay for only going into FA stance."

I noticed that ages ago, you use to punish my dps A LOT hence why I cut down so much. I almost expect you are waiting for me to dp therefore I don't, I do throw one in now and again but try and make it totally random so you can't predict it. It's kinda the same thing the other way round, I can't pressure you sometimes because I get EX-spinning roll move (don't know the name) and the amount you got me with that made me play different last night, I sometimes walked up to you from knockdown or just as I would normally throw I just held block and sure enough you did it. However, if you have 2 ex bars you can cancel backdash out of range so I can't punish but it helped my game a lot.

I am best at pressurising when I have someone trapped in the corner, it's difficult with you but I still manage it sometimes...

As for tips, yeah, learn some new characters you boring git. :p

Seriously though, can't really think of any tips to give you since your much better than me. I don't really see many weaknesses there...

Haven't played anyone offline apart from Jambo. Need to see if hmv are running any tournys, not been there since the last time you were down here!

I haven't really cut down with dps, dont think I did mash it anyway much lol, I just use whatever works. I know when I can catch arth with a dp and I know when I cant, so when something is not working I have to change/stop, especially if i end up getting punished from it a lot! Thats why I prefer longer sessions where you can adapt to who you are playing.

There can't be nothing.. if i had no weaknesses, you wouldn't win 9 out of 19!
Think harder :p

Sounds like you're really cutting down on the mashing adz :)

Adz does it a fair bit less but it still feels frequent - it's just that he's much smarter with when he does it, rather than doing it mindlessly.
Eg I pressure with Rufus, no dp. Let's me get comfortable with apply pressure closeup, then he lets one out during my next pressure sequence. After that, it's just guessing/mindgames. Should i be thinking, he wouldn't do that twice in a row? Will he think, he doesn't expect me to do it twice in a row, so i'll do it again anyway? etc etc -.-

Actually adz, that's why I prefer shorter sessions. It forces you to learn to adapt on the fly and not be lazy about it, as you won't get that chance in a tournament.

Edit: Is there still interest in an OcUK meetup/tournament? If so I'll create a thread to sort out dates (will have to be a Saturday) if at least 8 people can attend.

The mindgames/guess work is good, you keep me on my toes at all times. I can never even take it easy when I have a massive health advantage, neither can you taunt without consequences... :p

Very true.

I would still be interested in a sf4 meet.

it might sounds stupid but maybe you should mash out random moves more. you can catch people off sometime when they are not expecting it and give them something to worry about during block strings.

i am still interested in the sf4 meet, but only when there is no world cup games on.

You never need to mash. There are much better things to do if you suspect your opponent may miss a link.
