So, I need some insurance and nothing on the internet is getting anywhere near a good price. Cheapest is getting on for 200 more than last year, a total con.
I think I need to get on the phone, but who to call?

FWIW I'm 24, 2NCB, trying to insure an old 1.6 Mitsi Colt, a car with all the power of a wet fart, I do not think £700 is a reasonable price.

Its a standard UK car with no mods right, do you live in the ghettoooo (and his momma cries)?

Go compare, money supermarket, confused etc etc.

Admiral group are usually the cheapest for standard cars I found.

Their prices through the comparison sites are not competitive, i'll give them a shot direct though.

Anyone heard of 1st Central? They quoted me 517, best so far.

I just tried running a quote on 1st Central - they have the worst website ever. It has to process every time you input something and I was getting so many errors it was unbelievable. In the end it told me that I had to ring for a quote.

Surely they are competitive, just not as low as you would like? If all the insurance companies are coming back with similar increased figures then that must be the risk they take you and your car/area to be?

Perhaps insurance has just gone up in your area/demographic.

Try Flux or Sky. They were the cheapest for me and my mates when insuring UKDM jap crap.

Obviously consider the strengths and weaknesses in doing so.

What post code? I'm in WV3, getting quotes of around £700 on a modified Fiesta ST, at 24 with 2 years NCB...

Should be a reasonable area/postcode for Wolves I'd say, its WV9/10/11 that I'd expect to be pricey. What sort of quotes are you getting for other vehicles?

Have heard Mitsubishi parts are pricey and that availability is not always the best, could explain why its high for the Colt but it still seems pricey to insure for what it is (with no disrespect to the car in question).

More than have beaten every other quote I've had for the last 3 years + life time no claims now with them.
