Anyone have any idea when the desire comes into stock for Orange?

I am waiting for it to come into stock as I can upgrade to this phone on my contract.

It looks like such a nice phone!

It is such a nice phone ;)

A couple of weeks ago it looked as if the stock problems were being sorted out in the aftermath of the volcanic ash problems, but it appears not.

Lots of places still out of/struggling with stock, good to see Android finally selling like hotcakes

Why wait till orange have stock?...
When you can just go into the carphone warehouse and get the phone on orange and UNLOCKED.

Source: I work for CPW, plenty of stock in the 3 stores closest to me and plenty in the company.
Oh, & we sell more phones for orange than orange do themselves
:D

I got my desire on upgrade from orange last week. When I first rang up and negotiated the deal I had just missed out on the last of stock. They said they would text me when stock was available again, and sure enough 2/3 days later I got the text and sorted out delivery for the next day.

Does anyone know if buymobilephones, dialaphone or O2 themselves have stock of the phones?

Really tempted to get one now after seeing than my HD was worth £130 on a couple of recycling sites*, saves me the hassle of getting a bit more on ebay and all that entailing...

*Also why is the HD still worth more than the HD2?!

The black desire on dialaphone is in stock, mine has been dispatched today

So I spoke to Orange, I can upgrade on the 18th December, have to pay £230 odd to leave now, and my contract ends in March next year.

My current phone has some issues but has a lot stored on it so don't want to have to get a brand new one when I send it off to be renewed.

I do have phone insurance with my bank, should I give them a call?

Just been on the phone to Orange about my upgrade, they expect stock to be available in the next 2-3 days and are going to txt me when they're in.

Hopefully thats helpful to someone.

Yeah I was told the same this morning, as soon as the text arrives on my phone, I'm calling them :D

Fair enough, I might have misheard the lady on the phone, but i'm sure she said they had finished "testing it" and were going to have more in 2-3 days, I thought they'd test it when initially released and that would be in, unless they've made some changes to the orange software in this batch? Maybe i misunderstood her.

Think i'm going to go with the mobiles.co.uk deal unless Orange are willing to get a bit closer to it.

I went with mobiles.co.uk for my orange desire :)

Not only was it quick and easy but I have a desire free from any orange branding :D

Hmmm Orange offered me quite a good deal when I said I was going to leave them. The thing is I hate Orange branding. Does the Orange desire have external branding on it, or is it just their crappy interface etc?

It has a small Orange logo on the back battery cover, so just buy a replacement battery cover. As I understand it, their bodging of the operating system isn't very intrusive, which is a nice surprise. Just a couple of preloaded apps and different icons for a couple of the programs.

Orange offered me what I think to be a very good deal for one too, so it's just a case of waiting for stock now!

Out of interest, what were you both offered? I rang up earlier today (contract expires in a month) and was offered:

£49.99 for the Phone
700 any-net Mins
Unlmited Txts
Unlimited Internet (750mb fup)

for £27.50 a month.

Wandered if either of you have been offered better? I quite like the look of the mobiles.co.uk deal:
Free Phone
300 Mins
Unlimited Txts
500mb Net

for £25 a month (and 12 months 1/2 price though the dreaded cashback)

But I tend to use about 350-400 mins a month so would need a bit more ideally.

At the moment I'm on a discounted tariff which I pay £20/mo for and get 600 minutes, unlimited texts, "unlimited" internet. They offered me 200 mins and unlimited text/internet for £17.50, and I pay £99 for the phone. Seeing as I never go over my inclusive minutes or allowance in general, I thought that quite reasonable :p

All of the tariffs available as a new customer in various places are more expensive than I'd like, considering I don't make many phone calls.

buymobilephones are doing

Free phone
300 mins
300 txts
unlimited data

for £25 a month on T-Mobile. You also get 1 month cashback on top of that and you can get around £30 quidco as well so all in all around £21 a month on an 18 month contract.

Compared to the other deals I've seen yeah it is. :p

Just got off the phone with O2 and the best they could offer me was those minutes and texts for £35 a month with £50 for the phone.

At the moment I'm also on a simplicity tarrif which offers about the same for £20 a month with no phone too.

Just seen that Quidco do £50 cashback when signing up to contract with mobiles.co.uk, not too shabby.

If only that deal had 400-500 mins it'd be perfect for me.
£25 a month, 12 months half price and £50 cashback would bring it to £16.67 effectively (ok so not really, but still saves some money).
