Is this the most bias Nvidia review ever?

well just goes to show where LR stand. The reviewer "apparantly leaves" but its ok to do another review.......yeh another review.

Also they still have not taken it down or altered it.

Best yet is the fact they were benching on a 32bit OS despite having 6GB RAM (3583MB reported in the 3DMark screeny). Dumba**es tbh.

"I used Windows 7 x64 with NVIDIA's 197.75 and AMD's 10.4 drivers for the HD 5870."

:)

Hmm I think there's a little smell of arrogance here :p

I have 3x GTX 470 and HD5970 + HD5850 + HD5870 (sold now).

The GTX 470 uses around the same amount of wattage than the old GTX 280 (which I had three of before). My 3x GTX 470 puæs roughly the same amount of wattage as my old 3x GTX 280's and the heat and noise is the same... actually the noise is less annoying with the GTX 470's.

Single GTX 470 vs HD5870 ? well while in the majority of DX10 games my HD5870 had the slighter edge at 1680x1050 resolutions while at 1920x1200 the difference became smaller and with FSAA/AF even lesser still. However in DX11 games the GTX 470 would place itself neck by neck with the HD5870, but it Metro 2033 the GTX 470 would pull away - even so in Aliens vs Predator (3) and the older H.A.W.X (DX10.1) game. The Fermi architecture really is strong in high tessellation scenarioes.

As for noise both single cards were roughly equal in noise. The HD5870 albeit running a bit cooler.

3x GTX470 + HD5970 + HD5870 TriFire ?. Roughly the same performance, but in DX11 app's the nVidia threesome seems to pull higher minimums FPS and has less stuttering.

Also PhysX still plays an important part on my behalf. Playing Batman Arkham Asylum on the Radeon setup was less enjoyable because the atmosphere was lacking. With Mafia II coming where PhysX plays an important part I'll run this game on the nVidia setup. Games with Havok or no phsyX I'll run on the Radeon setup aswell.

GTX 470 is a great card... no doubt about that.

Gripen, I don't think anybody is dusputing that the 470 is a good card allbeit at the wrong price point here in the UK but that review is misleading to the extreme.
Did you miss the point of the thread?

I don't think I missed the point - because I couldn't locate it :D I don't know if the review is misleading as such, but they could have included more game benchmarks to give a more "complete" overview - I do agree on that :)

Anyhow the price point of a GTX 470 has just gone under the price point of a HD5870 in Denmark

The guy should stick to the forums and overclocking because he sure as hell can't review hardware, well not without extreme bias or maybe it's just pure ignorance, still can't believe they put it up on their main page, it hardly makes forum grade material.

Obviously he is trying to get in with Nvidia to get himself some free hardware.

Did you post as Raven1001 in that thread? if so how can you call the best combat flight sim on the market crap?? lol (I agree on the benchmarking comments)

Its kinda lol the dude has resigned over this, tbh I found the review useful because I game at 1600x900 and in all honesty if my fav games run better on one manufacturers hardware than anothers I wanna know about it :P

I think it is misleading due to the benchmarks used, as others have stated you could take it the other way and only bench stuff that would give better figures for ATI than Nvidia but that would be just as pointless, I want a balance between the 2 so I can make up my own mind depending on the games I play.

Denamrk is a strange place for hardware, my brother lives in Arhus and I have shipped hardware over to him from the UK as it was so much cheaper!
Is the 470 or 5870 cheaper in DK or the UK using the current exchange rates?

Generally hardware prices have been cheaper in the UK compared to DK and I know a lot of Danes do purchase from overclockers.co.uk - but within the last year or so the prices differences have become much much smaller - often almost the same or at least so comparable that in the even of a RMA people choose DK for the purchase to save on the RMA shipping (if it's ever to happen).

The GTX 470 has been down to around 2495 Dkk (£279) compared to the cheapest HD5870 around 2650 Dkk (£296).

oh looks like i found something on the power consumption chart, a 5870 overclocked uses less power at idle than a stock 5870? Am I missing something there or just more incompetence on his part.

I was looked at the review and I have to say that their numbers are bit odd.

How's possible the 5870 on Heaven be slower at 1680x1050 than at 1920x1200 when they did the test few months ago?

It's LR i havn't put much into their words for a longtime cannot remember what it was now but this is not the first time they have done a completely biased and crap review. Sorry anyone who now goes and buys a 470 expecting it to hammer a 5870 frankly deserves what they get for being an idiot. Not that i needed it but yeah one more reason to never allow LR to darken my monitor.

This might be the most bias thread ever.

A. The review says, and I quote:
To get a better feel for how the Zotac GeForce GTX 470 video card performs please read our previous article on the ASUS GeForce GTX 470 video card here
He does not say "Buy this card based on these few benchmarks" he says "To see how it performs check out our review of an identical card" and links to it. No deception.

B. He does not downplay the downsides of the GTX470 compared to 5850s:
If you are willing to stomach the power bill and ignore the furnace burning away in your case the Zotac GeForce GTX 470 looks like a very attractive option.
and
The "green" movement could tarnish the luster of the GTX 470 with its massive draw from the wall. Even though the GTX 470 seriously pumps up the performance compared to the HD 5870 it comes off as a power hog.

At DX11 performance the GTX470 does do very well against a 5870, and it's not that far below it at DX9/10.

It looks to me like you're disparaging LegitReviews because they don't share your opinion that power/noise/heat are the only thing any buyers care about.
