Black suit, white shirt what tie?

Does it matter? I mean, really?

"Ok this guy didnt pass, his answers weren't very good. No to that girl, she was nice enough but her skills arent what we're after. This guy, no way, he wore a red tie. i mean, what a ****. This guy though, he had the skills, the answers, the looks... and he wore a Cornflower blue tie. My very favourite. Hire him and double the salary."
You subtly notice these things.

We had a guy come with a wacky tie for an interview (was some find of fairy/angel) and we certainly remembered his face.

Pale blue for the anger management sort. Tbh any colour, pink is always a good shout with a black suit.

KaHn

I do love to rock this combo. I have a really vibrant pink tie that changes a bit purpley in the light, which nails it.

Pretty much any colour combo with that though, whichever suits the mood or the situation!

I want to see photos of the OP wearing a black suite.

Are you thinking black as in weird and funereal bathroom or three piece? I'm hoping for the former but fear I'll be disappointed.

Guest2: Do you already have a tie or selection of them? If so what colours/patterns and people could offer suggestions from what you've got. If you don't then why not just ask in the shop where you bought your shirt(s) and suit - they'll have the benefit of actually seeing you to help the decision. For what it is worth I quite often like a simple patterned tie with a white shirt but it's not something that suits everyone.

A black suit to an interview and you're talking about a purple tie to "overpower" the interviewer? Dear God, you don't have the slightest clue.

This is both tremendously amusing and terribly depressing at the same time.

I'm so buying a yellow tie. No one ever expects me to be a lib dem supporter whenever we get into politics.

Just don't go for anything garish, like orange or purple. It'll stand out in all the wrong ways.
If you're looking to make a statement, black shirt white tie.
Else just something lightly coloured.

Black shirt & a white tie?
Are you kididng?
Do you really want to go into an interview looking like a classic gangster or one of the rat pack?

wear a shemagh- those "fashionable" teatowel thingys.. or to be helpful, dont go with a plain tie, even just go with one that is textured, or better a subtle pattern. Plain ties are either boring or ultra modern/topmanesque, neither of which you want...

try M&S for suits/ties, i looked all over bham for a suit, went in next, house of fraiser, slaters, and M&S had the best range and best value suits i could find
