I read an article in the Metro this morning about the new Spyder III laser pointer thats 1000mw and only costs £135

I have a green later pointer that I think is 35mw and that gives out a huge beam. 1000mw will be crazy bright!

Does anyone else think that whilst this is very dangerous is it also super cool? I dont think it will have any use apart from shining into the sky or showing your mates but still...

It will blind permanently and instantly and set fire quickly to skin and other body parts

Lightsabre tech here we come.

These are *very* illegal in the UK, btw.

Damn!

I want, but i dont know how long i could sit with it at home before i had to test it on my arm.......

Would this be classed as a fire arms then? or a weapon?

So want one.
But wouldn't trust myself with one. No real use for one. And probably only end up hurting myself.

Wow, I realy want that.

But I know I'd do something stupid with it and blind myself within minutes... kinda scary that anyone could buy it aswell!

You're giving me all these reason but we all know you'll just use it to wind up the cat/dog/neighbours.

Neighbours haveing a late night party and being noisy? Set their curtains on fire from across the street!

I must admit - the danger aspect does slightly appeal - I'd like to see it in action - maybe chopping up a piece of paper or something... or more likely setting it alight :p
