I want a new GC. I have a Core 2 Duo E7300 2.66Ghz

At what point will the processor be the bottleneck and I will be wasting my money on the GC?

Any thoughts on which GC?

a light Oc shoudl get you up to 3.2 I would think.
Slap in a 5850 or something and yer sorted :)

I'd lean towards Asus branded cards purely for the warranty btw
 
thanks for that. all the cards you have suggested are more than i wanted to spend, but you have answered my question (i.e. what GC would be a waste of money due to my processor being the bottleneck - answer = none! spend what you can afford lol)

another question about what GC i should choose, from a different angle:

what GC offers the best "bang per buck"? i'm not after the best GC necessarily, but more, lets say "fps per £1 spent" if you know what i mean

ATI 5770 would probably still be the best for price/performance of all the newer cards, however 4870s can still be had for less and will out perform it, but they lack DX11 ;)
