North Korea

Im not a fan of military force, but i think NK should be an exception to the rule just to free the suffering population from this torture inflicted by a mad man.

The only problem is, half of the north koreans would probably flood into south korea and strangle the life from it if they are not careful.

What makes you think the majority of them want to be free?

I'm not saying they don't want to be but if it's all they know and have seen, the "outside" world could be too much for a great deal of them.

What would be better, leaving generations to grow up all brainwashed, or to freak out a few people initially to save the majority and future generations?

Better for whom exactly? Without knowing the psyche of the North Korean people in general there is no way to know.
If they only know one way and that's taken away from them, they are more likely to have worse psychological issues and either go insane or just take their own lives in a worst case scenario.

Thing is the place has been like this for a while now, under two rulers, so the brainwashing has occurred for a number of generations so even the oldest folk wouldn’t know any better. Releasing people into the outside world will probably not be a good thing as it would be extremely hard to adjust to such an extensive change. I think they will slowly need to bring in more and more outside influences. Not that I know anything about this sort of situation, just assuming.

It's a fair bet that state media will say they beat England 32-0, the USA 40-0 and Taekwondo'd the South Korean team to death after beating them 50-0 and went on to win the World Cup.

You're not far off.

They don't even televise the match unless they (North Korea) win.

I agree with you guys, dont get me wrong i think there would be a lot of issues if they suddenly got told everything they have been taught is a lie, but i also think they need that chance. It would have to be a slow and very carefully thought process to bring them back to reality as to not cause complete social meltdown, but i think they should still be given that chance rather than no chance at all.

where does a country cross the line and intervene though? surely as a humanitarian state, we should be getting involved, if anything because people are starving in a land where food can be grown

With such unwavering loyalty, imagine what N. Korea would be able to accomplish with proper admin?

As one of the links said, the dear leader never listens to his advisors, and he's obviously not a smart lad. Atleast under proper rule they would be able to feed themselves.

I'm not saying the brainwashing is a good thing, but N.Korea could atleast exploit that fact to create a better N.Korea for all, it's not as if their using hunger as a form of loyalty anymore, it's now just undying love.

so many rumours and so little facts is what i think of the place

for example i dont see anything massively wrong in those boston big picture photos. they could have been taken in any poor country. could probably take similar ones in peterlee actually:p

the stuff about them not showing football matches is rubbish according to many korean blogs and news sites. they have supposedly even shown every match except US and south korean ones on screens in the capital. theyve even been getting in trouble about it because they never paid for the TV rights :o
