So before the launch of the Desire there was talk of it having 720p recording.
Also many HTC officials mentioned that it can handle it but they haven't quite got the software polished for it yet.

& from what I know the Nexus One and the Desire are pretty much identical bar a few things. Now I found this online
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=698287 Wonder weather it'll work for the Desire or not?

Anyone here smart enough to get it working? :D

SnapDragon can encode 720p just fine. HTC are releasing the divx/720p update with Android 2.2.

It should land very soon.

I think it will be out by July's end. If it isn't then I will eat a cookie that has fallen on the floor and the 5 second rule has expired!

:p

I hope to be proved wrong, I'm not expecting it till about August at least though. Having said that, the Froyo ROMs seem to be getting to the point where they're pretty decent now.

They may be decent but without the camcorder it's useless for me as I use the camcorder a lot, partly because it's damn good for a phone :p

720p video sounds great, I'm sure it won't be the best quality but another thing that's going to sway me to a desire possibly.

I thought Android 2.2 was meant to been released for the desire this month (june) .. :(

I'm sick of this now, the amount of people who have read what that guy on XDA was "told" as Froyo coming in June are crazy.

Its been said hundreds of times in this forum too that it is extremely unlikely and people are expecting it STILL.

Blimey.

That said, I wouldn't complain if it does happen to show up, but the odds are extremely extremely slim.
