The EA week on Steam

One thing that does worry me is Steam's policy of "don't care" if they mistakenly nuke your entire games collection.

Do you guys not screenshot and store all your last page of purchases (or copy the code and note the date, or print it like it suggests etc)?

i just bought both the C&C 3 games and both RA3 games :)
i know a lot of people didnt like them but i thought they were excellent, im not paying for C&C4 tho even with the offer

Well they have the T&Cs all stitched up so that they can remove your account with no warning for no reason.

Sure, it's hardly ever going to happen, but it's a lot of money to put in control of a company with no appeals process.

Despite the fact that the people it happens to usually say some along the lines of "OMG I NEVER DID ANYTHING!" or... "It was my brother!" or... "I gave my password to this website and they promised me free games!".

I'm confident it's not going to happen to me because I'm not an idiot.

What's the change time to Thursday? Still got Wednesday's deals up for me, I assume it's running Pacific Time but surely it'd be past midnight there now?

Mistakes still happen.

I'm not saying it's going to, but I don't like the idea of Steam being able to do what they like with hundreds of pounds and then covering their ears and shouting "LALALALALALA" when I try to explain that it was a fault in their systems.

Yep, all receipts saved in my emails folder. I don't see what difference it would make in the event of a dispute though?

Meh, i'm still tempted to give RA3 another chance at £10.

Decisions decisions... 23 minutes and counting...

The only person I've known it happen to got scammed by one those sites after they gave their details away.

I'm not denying that Valve doesn't ban accounts, but I've yet to see an example of it happening to anyone that protects after their details and doesn't do stupid things.

Well I don't want to turn this into an argument because i'm not saying you're wrong.

I just don't like the idea of giving someone else total control over my games collection - because no system is ever 100%.

So er... yeah. :)

Fair enough I see your point.

It's not perfect, but for me the advantages outweigh the problems. :)

Well put it this way - i've transferred most of my collection to Steam. So I guess at the end of the day, I do trust them.

Anyhow, help me out. RA3 - deal or no deal? :o
