Returned from an awesome trip to Germany and the Nurburgring yesterday, had many ups and a couple of downs, but can't wait to start planning the next trip!
Travelled through Saturday to get to the hotel and on the Sunday had a good first day with it being open all day, got 4 laps done in total, was very quiet in the morning, but got busy after lunch time and many crashes followed with lengthy track closures, pain in the arse but expected.
Monday started well but ended up being very frustrating, during the day we went to a couple of viewing points to watch a private trackday/car testing and get some photos (and getting sunburnt). Just killing time til the track opened at 5.15pm...but it seemed that during the day at some point the people on the private trackday extended their stay, so rather than finding something to do for the whole day we had an empty evening
, upside to that was a nice eating session at the pistonklaus.
Very annoying that you plan a trip months in advance given the dates they say on the website, then on the day they cancel it, something to bear in mind in the future for sure.
Tuesday morning we heard murmurings of the same again, the trackday was happening again and we were pretty deflated we'd only get 1 busy day of ring action, we headed down to the car park just to have a look around the cars and all of a sudden on the board it was saying it was open that evening from 6.30pm - 8.00pm...result! Just before the track opened to the public we saw Horst von Saurma testing the Ferrari 458, was great being able to have a good nosey around the car that it was virtually impossible to photograph at Geneva just a few months before.
So managed to get out that evening and had 2 absolutely stonking laps that totally made the trip worthwhile, so although it seems that the sessions could be cancelled on a whim, it's much more enjoyable and worthwhile because of how quiet it is.
Got back yesterday and can't wait to get back again!
Anyway, enough rambling, I have a video where I managed a 9:05 BTG time and some pictures too, thanks for looking etc!
(HD Copy seems to be taking it's sweet time on youtube, so this one in the meantime)
