I've managed to balls up restoring my C: partition using Acronis meaning that I now have no MBR and I can't boot into any drive. My drives are partitioned like so:

C: XP
D: Win7
E: Games
F: Media
G: Backups

What is the best way of me sorting this out without further calamity? I was thinking of reinstalling XP on C:, install Acronis, enable recovery manager and then copy the backup of partition C: (with the MBT!) but would this put me back straight?

well just looking at that setup wipe xp off and put windows 7 into repair mode to restore the mbr and leave it with just windows 7 on.

I just tried repairing the install without wiping C: and although it detects the issue & says it's fixed, it doesn't fix it. Will this definitely work if I format the C: partition?
