I just did a fresh install on windows 7 on my new machine yesterday on an SSD drive, and today when I tried to install a game I didn't have enough space, for some reason I have already used up 30GB of Data and I have no idea how?

I had to install the game on another drive, which doesnt bother me, I just have no idea how I have used 30GB of data, how much data is a win7 install?

everything i have downloaded is being saved onto my other drive(s) so its nothing i have downloaded, in installed programs there is nothing over 1GB

any ideas?

How much RAM do you have?

Do you use the hibernation mode at all?

Both of these can affect how much storage is used I think.

Is it a new install over an old OS (XP, Vista)? if it was it may still have some old OS on the HDD, go into disk clean up and look for any old OS parts and check the boxes to remove them, i did it and gained loads more space

Yeah if it's not a clean install then you're going to retain a lot of stuff from the previous installation.

Also hibernation will use the same space as the amount of ram used.

As above really, see if you have a hiberfil.sys file on your C: drive [it will be hidden]. You Pagefile will also take up a wee chunk.
