Is the HTC EVO 4G (sprint) going be released in the UK ??

NO NO NO...its purely a CDMA device which is different to GSM in that the sim is hardwired into the handset....so unless HTC decide to release a GSM version of it...it aint coming out in Europe or any market that uses GSM only....dont think even Canada will get it as they still use CDMA along with GSM there but from what my brother tells me...no cdma network in canada has picked it up.

No, it doesn't.

Yes of course it does :) 4G is only accessible in 20-30 cities I think, the rest of the country have to stick with 3G and still pay the cheeky $10 a month surcharge for 4G even though they can't get it.
You simply turn the 4G radio off, just like wi-fi.

....but no it won't come out in England. By time 4G is implemented in UK, a newer phone would be produced. Would still be nice to have the option though.

You missed the comment above re: CDMA. The Evo doesn't have a sim card slot so it won't work with anything in the UK.

If you imported one (I looked into it), there is no way to get it to connect to a UK network, so it doesn't work.

CDMA = does not work in UK. We need a GSM version.

The EVO is selling like hot cakes in the US, but remember that's partly because they don't have the Desire, which has exploded here.

Well they sorta do, they have the htc incredible but it's on a different network. The market is hugely different over there, lots of crippling lockin systems and a mess of different technologies. GSM still gets the better phones due to market volume imo, this is just a rare exception.

Sorry I thought you meant just the 4G / 3G compatibility. Sprint & Verizon offer CDMA phones which I personally think are dam annoying as you don't have a sim card. While AT&T & T-Mobile offer sim cards (GSM).
This is obviously why the EVO 4G won't work in the UK right now :)

They are getting the desire in the next couple of months I think so it should get quite popular over there too.
