The USA is still a 3rd world country

Oh ffs.

I want to go out in a car crash, drunk and kill a little kiddie, would that be acceptable?

Way to get hyperbolic! Go you!

The guy is on Death Row. He's been given the option of humane lethal injection or firing squad.

He went with firing squad.

Just a LITTLE different than you suddenly deciding you want to drunk-drive into children.

Jeeze, at least put SOME effort into your argument.

He chose this method of execution as he wanted someone to have to clean up the mess afterwards. He'll be one very angry nappy wearer when they shoot him.

Yup he chose it specifically to be a PITA by all accounts.

Apparently the measures in place are that the firing squad will not see the prisoner when they fire but have been trained to aim at a certain spot, and one of the guns will be loaded with a wax bullet (with the same recoil characteristics as a normal bullet) so no individual will know whether they fired the fatal shot.

Also, the firing squad is no longer available since around 1980something IIRC but because he was convicted prior to that, he was still allowed to choose it.

Calling it third world is a bit over the top in my opinion but I do think the US is very backwards in a lot of ways compared to other developed countries, and their continued use of capital punishment and the methods they use for it are one example of that. The only other developed country I can think of that still practices it is Japan.

For those that are wondering about this specific case, here's a bit more info.
