Hi all,

......if you had an accident and the car was un-driveable...

Who would you call?

Breakdown Service (AA / RAC) or your insurance company?

Thanks

Assuming you are on the side of the road, breakdown service.

Haha two different answers. My car was un-driveable, I just got it recovered home by the RAC. Then the insurance picked it up a few days later.

Police had already called out local recovery firm who have a contract with them.

Both times they had to crane the car on LOL. First time was a lap post and crash barrier at 80mph second was in a field after rolling 3 times.

Also recovery company's get more money if they have to right the car to the correct way IE. back on its wheels. So if you put it on the roof the driver loves it as he gets more money. Well with the firm i know they do

Why involve your breakdown at all, did you break-down?

No.

Insurance company from the word go, and if it wasn't you at fault, their insurance company, or a consultant.

Police sorted it out for me, then Insurance inspected it at the recovery garage.

VFR-KID - mine was on its roof, but the fire brigade put it back on its wheels for me! Unlucky for the recovery guy :p

That's what the police told me to do. It made 0 difference anyway.

Everyone is saying the insurance company but mine was closed when I tried to ring them from the road side?

You ring a 24 hour number?

My friend recently left a bottle of wine standing up in the boot of her 207CC, she put the roof down and the bottle smashed the rear window as it went into the boot.

She tried calling her insurance company who were closed, this was at about 8pm on a Saturday (right in the middle of the England match!).

She did get through to them by the time I spoke to her again on Monday morning but said she was going to have to wait till Wednesday afternoon for someone to replace the windscreen!

Never had to call insurance company, but I know mine texted me their contact info when I joined them so I have that saved as a contact.

Most insurance companies have a 24 hour claim line, but in the event that failed, I'd probably look for a recovery company myself. Locally I know them all well, else where I'm sure mobile internet or 118 *** can help.
