Insurance for laptops - possibly through a bank?

Having a look around google, there are many insurance companies that are about - but are there any that you guys use?

I need it to be sorted for theft and damage. I have a macbook aluminium that was worth around £950 when I bought it in 2008 if that makes a difference.

I also know that some insurance companies wont let you claim if it is damaged in a war zone. It would be great if you knew one that did - but not a major pain if it didnt.

I know some banks offer phone insurance, but dont know if any offer laptop insurance of any kind?

Cheers!!

Do you not have house insurance?

I dont live in a permanent place - I think my old dear has recently cancelled a lot of what the house insurance covered to bring down the cost due to us having an extension on the house.

Say they did cover laptops on the house insurance though - would it cover me in different countries and outside the home?

And by the way, I have never really took out any insurance before - hence all the potentially stupid questions :)

Rang up one or two of them and they have told me that they dont insure laptops over a certain age... Does anyone know of any companies that do?

Sounds like it may be more trouble that it is worth; presumably insurers who will cover it being taken abroad into a warzone will be charging a fairly hefty premium, and if it cost under a grand 2 years ago it isn't going to be worth a fortune these days.

I'd say don't bother insuring it, just buy a new one if it gets lost/stolen/damaged etc.

The warzone thing isnt a priority - I can just say it got nicked elsewhere, or damaged elsewhere.

I understand what you are saying regarding the price of the laptop - but I would rather pay £60 a year (which seems to be the going rate on a lot of websites) and know I can get the majority of the money back towards a new one, rather than having to fork out another grand for a whole new laptop. It would be a whole months wages!! :D

Try Endsleigh Insurance out. They're not the cheapest but I had contents insurance with them which covered me for the work laptop I sometimes had if doing the night shift.

Its still going to be £500+ worth, if its a 2008 model. Probably worth the £60/year premium quoted....

It'd be cheaper to tack this onto household insurance, though. Do this.

Way to admit intent to fraud on a public forum, tbh. People like you raise our premiums. Etc.
