PLUS his car allowance, PLUS the frankly astronomical drop in mileage rate. The company car is an expensive option here.
 
I would definitely say so :) 40p is a lot, you'll get the car allowance plus £40 for every 100 miles you cover to put it into perspective!
 
Could you not chuck a private plate on it and claim a car is 07 or something, anyone finds out just say you don't know much about cars and thats what the seller told you.

Or are they likely to check the original reg/log book?

New Mondeo is suppose to be very good, inside looks nice and even with the 2.5T (Focus ST engine) you'd make money on the 40ppm. Nearly £10k now for a 2/3 year old one.
 
They wouldn't check the log book. They aren't overly strict on the five year old thing a sI said earlier, it's preferred but if the car looks gret and newer than it is then it's a winner.

My bad, for some reason I had an idea you could get 520d's etc for about £10k but they must be a lot older.

Is your 330i a sport model? Stick a private plate on that and use it, to the average idiot it just looks like a shiny posh BMW. Its perfect for this job, economical and comfortable. My S-Class is 10 years old and i still get jibes from the fleet manager about my "posh" car which must be costing me a fortune! People dont understand cars.

A W reg Audi TT could to the average Joe who knows nothing about cars be only a few years old, where as the 106 which they made right up to a 52 plate looks like it's from 1996.

I'd be looking at 5 years~ or older and private plating it.
 
Indeed. These rules are to prevent people driving bangers. A 10 year old 330i Sport in good condition on a private plate is not a banger. If they are not strict then they will not bat an eyelid at a nice BMW's age, just as they do not bat an eyelid (and even comment to the contrary about it being "too" in your face) about my old Merc which would fall foul of the rules at many places.

I bet your BMW looks 10* nicer than most 3-4 year old Vectra diesel thrashed to death ex lease company cars, and tbh, will look miles better than a ghastly new golf.
 
Funny thing is I do get such comments at my car from the financial director!

It's not an M Sport sadly just a lowly SE.

I have toyed with the idea of getting a newer E46 330i for use as the company car......

Well obviously, I was only pointing out that the tax aspect is a negligible consideration in the grand scheme of things.
