HTC Desire, not lasting a day!

I've only ever seen the H symbol on HTC phones...the X10'S 3G signal should also be achieving H in some areas but still shows up as 3G on the phone.

Actually my INQ mini 3G (or the INQ B1 which is what 3 likes to call it on their mobile site) keeps on going between 3G and H so it's not just HTC phones that show the H symbol.

This may well annoy some of you. Got my Desire yesterday, charged it at work up to 100% and had it plugged it in at home playing with apps etc. over wifi all night. Unplugged it at midnight ish, played around with some games and browsing in bed and went to sleep.
Battery was at 84% this morning, pretty worrying I thought its just been sat there while I sleep! Anyway, its now down to 7% after showing it off at work all day, a couple phone calls maybe 15 texts, some google goggles action and 2 hours of mp3 down the gym. I'm actually trying to drain it now so I can do a full 0-100% charge!

Uptime of 25 hours, 32% Cell standby. My work is really random with signal with gprs one one side of my desk, HSDPA the other so it must not enjoy this much.

My desire is lasting longer now as time goes on, at first it did about 12 hours (although this was me playing with it constantly) now its done over a day and is on about 35% and ive still been playing with it tons. Hopefully it will still improve :p

0-100% charge isn't good for the batteries - idealling don't go below around 5% before charging.

Enabling Wifi and 3G+ on demand rather than automatic or leaving them on will make a massive difference to battery life.

When I first got my xperia I'd barely get 2 days out of the battery - after 6 months it was lasting the best part of a week with the same useage.

Actually, wot I said was the only phone I'd seen with the H symbol was HTC branded phones, I didn't say it was just HTC phones that displayed it. My point was that some phones show 3g signal even when they are getting H (3g+).

This is the only thing that's annoying me with my Desire so far, the battery life is terrible. I didn't even make it through the day yesterday from 100% at 1pm to flat at 9:30pm - Right now I'm tempted to just send it back and get something else.

Going to see how it goes over the next few days, apart from the battery it's fantastic.
