How to crossfire 2x 5770's - No crossfire connector!!

Some of you may have seen my other thread about RMA'ing my 4870x2.

Well, the two ATI 5770's turned up today, and surprise surprise there is no way of connecting the 2 together. Nothing in either box, just a card and a CD. My motherboard didn't come with anything either, and I've never used crossfire before so I have no spare connectors lying around.

They seem impossible to buy also, so wtf do I do? I've emailed ocuk and asked them to send me one, but as they don't stock them on their site, is this likely to happen???

Help!

There should have been a connector in the box, every ATI card I've ever bought that has the physical crossfire port has come with the ribbon cable.

However they are available on the auction site.

If you were local I could give you a cable.

Thanks very much for the offer mate, but I'm a fair way from you. Must say I'm really annoyed at this, seems really shoddy.

If ocuk can't send me one (not holding my breath), what do I need to buy exactly? - had a quick look and there seem to be different length ones. My motherboard is an Asus P5Q pro so whatever width the 2 PCIe slots are apart is what I need I guess. Most seem to be 70mm, some are 75mm?? Some also say 'flexible' but they look like a ridgid fixed width in the pictures?

Also, are they all the same ie do they work with any ATI cards or do you need a specific sort for 2x 5770's.

I shouldn't have to be asking all this shi**!!

yep thats right, remember to activate your trust by clicking on the "trust" button on one of your posts as well, and then it should be visible.

Some of the budget brands do not supply crossfire bridges to keep cost's down. I have had Powercolour and Xpertvision cards with no bridges.

Eh? 4870x2 you mean? 2 times 5770 is equiv/ better than 4870x2 more or less. After looking at lots of reviews I'm well happy with the result. Dx11 goodness, less heat, power etc for no pounds

Hey wunkley,

I'm glad to see you got a CrossFire cable sorted, as already mentioned some brands omit this item from their Retail-Lite packages, thought this small stumble was gonna send you into a big rant but you pulled it back together nicely!

Sooo basically you got a single HD 5770 to play with and get a feel for, bench etc then when your CrossFire cable arrives your good to go . . . lucky you, CrossFired HD 5770's look extremely capable in games that support MultiGPU . . . have fun mate and be sure to update the thread with anymore rants/positive feedback! :cool:

I got an XFX 5770 a month a go or so (in retail packaging) and it came with no bridge either! I was advised by other people who'd bought that board (sans connector) to contact XFX support and they told me to go buy one or "use the one that came with your motherboard!" Cheek!
Now when I flog my dual 3870s do I include the bridges too or hold on to one in case I need one at a later date?

I got an engineering sample 5770 and that came without a crossfire bridge. I am going to get another to crossfire, which brands supply one in the box, and if I need to find one, which are best? I'm using a Crosshair III Formula, so can a solid bridge be used or would a flexible one be more appropriate? This is my first foray into multi GPU setups, and I have to say it looks as though the 5770s are a great way to start, the scaling on multi-GPU enabled games seems better than we've ever seen.
