games for a 4 year old?

My 4 year old plays on the Wii. He also has a TV in his room for DVDs (the wii is downstairs though). I get a lot of people telling me how I am corrupting him with these decisions. I completely disagree.

Wait till he's 6 before you glue his bum to the chair with a PC.

Try "Neverhood"

It's like 13 years old or so but still manages to get a grip on kids with its cartoony graphics.

I kinda feel that giving a 4 year old games is a bad idea. I mean, when I was four I had a huge imagination and used to just love playing with friends and making things up and doing what four year olds do. Then I remeber when I was like 6/7 getting a nintendo and spending hours and hours every day on it and having people round to play on it and pretty much everything in my life from then on was around games till I hit 17 haha. What im trying to say is that I think you should introduce him to games later. Not to menchen that children can get ridiculously addicted to them and become such a pain if they don't get to play them. I wasn't like that, though I verged on the edge sometimes.

Having said that, I do encourage learning ones. I had them as a kid. They weren't too bad.

Dont always get a choice to wait til they are 6 before having them use a computer. My daughter for example has been using computers in her nursery school since she was 3 and at almost 5 she will be regularly using computers in her infant school.

She only uses the home PC for , at max , an hour a week and the familiarity of its use gives her a significant advantage at nursery and infants.

what about those catz/dogz type games? Im not sure what revision theyre on now or if they still make them but theyre educational and fun.

Manhunt. :o
Or the majority of the PopCap / Bigfish games - nice and easy to pick up, plenty of 1 hour free trials available, and tons of variety.

heh.. thanks for suggestions will try the Cbeebies site for sure! :) never thought of it lol :D

about allowing him on the lappy.. he doesn't play more than 1hr a day.. not even that :) i hope he won't get addicted! :]
