I would remove the competitors link asap - otherwise you could be looking at a forum holiday !!!!

Competitors etc. aside. The PX2370 is a very good panel which I would highly recommend. I haven't actually reviewed it myself, but I've reviewed the very similar XL2370 and it's one of the best monitors I've used overall.

Yeah that's what you've gotta consider. If you need or want accurate colours you can get a Dell U2311H for the price. If you want the screen for games and movies primarily then you can't go far wrong with the PX2370.

Have you used the the Dell U2311H at all, PCM? I've read your review of the XL2370 on your site and I've spoken to your about that monitor on my own thread but I still haven't purchased a monitor. My main uses are internet browsing, movies, gaming and then the odd photoshop (prob use it twice a month for friends needs)

Surely the contrast/colour is going to be superior in the IPS panel. The 2 main things i want is good contrast & colours for movie watching and good viewing angles really. The only things I can think of the Samsung having over the dell is in terms of looks and the thiness of the actual panel.

I haven't used the Dell U2311H, but have used various IPS panels from Dell and others (all LG screens). The colour accuracy is better, no doubt - but the peak luminance is lower. Although the image may not be as accurate on the XL2370, the considerably higher luminance made it a lot more vibrant and punchy - really that's what you want for gaming and movies. The responsiveness is also visibly superior, but this is only an issue for some people (if you are sensitive to it).

I hope to get ahold of the Dell U2311H at some point and review it in the same way, but the panel itself is nothing new.

Hmm.. so its a matter of vibrant picture or better viewing angles. Decisions to make. I like how the stand is actually adjustable on the Dell though. Height adjustment and the ability to swivel are definite pluses for me. How much more vibrancy over a I-IPS dell panel are we talking about here when it comes to watching movies? Gaming is something I do less and less and my PC can't handle the latest FPS games anymore so its mostly stragety games

Looking around at some reviews of the U2311H the peak luminance seems to be just under 250cd/m2. This is a lot lower than the 440cd/m2 we achieved on the XL2370. Having said that - 250cd/m2 is actually a very comfortable and still pretty bright level for watching movies. When you consider a nice deep black level and good variation in the colours that the U2311H provides at this brightness level then I'm sure the viewing experience is very good indeed.

Some people just prefer the in your faceness of extremely high luminances, but other people find themselves turning down the brightness anyway and don't mind. It really depends how bright you like things. :)

Thanks for the info, mate!
