Which of the following sentences is the odd one out?

a) Mary, a typist, called Carol. b) Emma, a chambermaid
called Gail. c) Jenny, a charlady, called Alice.
d) Sarah, a book-keeper, called Laura.

Am I missing something or is this just a really **** "mind game"?

Surely B, without the comma, is the only one thats right?

Right as in the answer or right as in correct?

B is the only one that is gramatically incorrect, unless Emma was a chambermaid called Gail.

All of the others have commas which make the word "called" a verb in the past tense.

Or it could be like.

"Emma, a chambermaid called Gail."

"Did she? Which Chambermaid?"

"Some skank named Joanna"

"oh rofl *cool hip hop lingo*"

That's what I'd assumed. What a rubbish puzzle.

When reduced to the first letter of each word, D is the only one without two Cs in it.

I was thinking along similar lines but wrt the number of a's in each name.

ab and d all have the same number of a's in each name; a) Mary - Carol b) Emma - Gail d) Sarah - Laura, whereas c) Jenny - Alice

Daft puzzle if I am right though
