The ContiSport Contact3 thread

Have you ever bought new tyres or only ever got used ones cheap from your uncle in Poland where they fit them for £1.20 and you get a ride of their mrs while your there?

Mould release etc makes them slippy as heck for the first miles.
He is saying '' a bit more often'', therefore, on ''non slippery tyres'' is still happens often enough ?

Have you ever driven a 200bhp+ RWD car?
No.

Why is getting TC kicking in so much worse on a FWD car though in your opinion ?

What on earth are you going on about?

He got 4 tyres half price which is fantastic, now he is breaking them in, good job all round.

When I had the Eagle F1s fitted to the MX5 it was very slippy for the first few miles as the tyres wore in. And that's in a car with 115bhp.

Power overcoming traction = breaking traction. It's not necessarily blatant wheelspin, a quick chirp will be detected by traction control systems. It's also nothing to do with driving style unless you only use about a 10th of the throttle.

Someone who's just passed their test criticising someone who's been driving for much longer than they have and have more experience in higher powered cars = LOL.

I'm criticizing him criticizing me, not his driving. I think he should shut up about my driving when he's doing the exact same thing.

My thoughts too.

Oh and ooooh tyres. :p

LOL even more. You're amazing!

I have covered less than 25 miles so far!

No.

You need to be trying a lot harder in a 130bhp Volvo! Does it even have stability control?

Nice deal you got there Fox, I'd have bought them at that price too.

Incidentally, I notice rather more wear than I would expect at such an early stage on my F1's on the rear, then again I suppose that's to be expected with 325lbs/ft going through them.

might ditch my falkens for the ST next as these look like they have awesome rim protection, where as the Mrs keeps curbing it and my wheels look gash now, refurb and some new tyres coming up in a few 1000 miles

It would worry me how they became used.

Also whats the point, even on a budget you can get half decent tyres.

So when you buy a second hand car, or rent one you change the tyres because you don't know how they were used before?

I think we've had this discussion before but I just find it a little odd.

The rim protection depends on the wheel and tyre size my girlfriend's has very little protection and has pretty much destroyed the front two wheels !

The top one has a production date of the 3509 and purchased around September/October 2009 the second one has 5009 and purchased around March 2010. They look identical to me with the same tread pattern as the new CS3s in the Evo review. Should have really taken a photo of the other half of the tyre but Fox mentioned in the other thread the font for the tyre size may be different.

No, but when i buy or rent cars i try not to end up with ex right offs that have had the tyres repaired removed and sold.
