BT are upgading my area to fiber

100gb Is still a a limit mate regardless of how you put it. A pathetic one at that when you consider the average size of things people tend to do on the itnernet these days.

-_- they give you an amazingly fast uber internet connectin then chop you to 100gb Fup thats bs man total bs.

Well if everyone is honest you dont need that sort of connection for normal activity.

My area is getting upgraded on March 31st next year. I am hoping that by then they will be renting out the lines to other companies like Be and o2 :p

yeah but a few games from steam some iplayer or other video on demand service 100gb nowadays is quite easy to reach.

BT would have to make a lot of changes to their service before I would even vaguely consider moving from BeThere.

Their Traffic Shaping is draconian and renders any broadband line they install practically worthless.

Yeah I only get 5gig download and nearly 1gig upload which does me fine as it is unlimited.

Would like the idea of having 40gig download and 10gig upload though.

Hmm, have ordered this from BT, install is due this coming Friday.

TBH I think I might cancel due to the 100Gb limit, I could probably stay within the limit quite easily as I have a 'not-very-strict' 10Gb limit at the moment, but my current service is free :)

Just as a side note on this thread - my area has been upgraded and I went to the site to sign up.

There's a catch that people might need to be aware of - BT supply you with a separate VDSL modem and router. Obviously, the modem needs it's own power source, which we don't have by the master socket...*sigh*

BT have an option to install a DATA extension kit (Ethernet cable) and moev the VSDL port to elseware in the house. Not sure if they are charging for this. The VSDL port on the SSFP they fit will take a RJ11 or RJ45 cable.

If you have a single power socket by the master socket obvious other otions are a 4 bar or similar or PowerLine with power pass through and have the router else ware in the house and the OR Huawei modem by the master socket

Does the VDSL router show line stats like ADSL? Would be interested to see them if so.

the Open Reach modem is locked down you cannot access it at all unfortunately so will not be able to see the sync rates for the line. This is the same if another ISP takes the service from Open Reach they also are not ableto access the router however the line stats are passed back to them via the normal network systems.
