I'm getting fed up with l4d, and BC2 is still broken. So I'm looking for a good team based game to play online, preferably with smaller teams, larger games just become a disorganised mess and are no fun

From your game suggestions, I guess you want an FPS? How about TF2 or CSS? TF2 can work well with 6 or 8 per team with some modes, as well as the larger games.

(Btw the patch for BC2 is expected to be out on Wednesday, so hopefully may be fixed)

Killing Floor?

And seriously the BC2 patch is STILL not out?! Even Valve stick to schedules better than that (ignoring Ep3).

I second Killing Floor, and I'd also like to suggest Borderlands? Great game and I've got quite a lot of hours out of it.

Fun by yourself, much much better with friends.

League of Legends, 3v3 or 5v5. There's a few of us play this every night orginised on a mumble talk server, check out the thread about it.

Borderlands is quite limited though. You can't just pick it up and want to play it occasionally, you need a party of upto 4 people who are willing to play together often since even 1 or 2 levels difference in the party if they played alone or without a member screws the balance of the game up.

CSS.

Play public games and just choose a server size you want to play in or get a bit more competitive and start playing some 5v5 games. Thats where its most fun

I'm starting to think I should have listed games I already have and so don't want suggested :D

They include killing floor, borderlands and CSS :D

I'll give league of legends a look when I get home, see if it looks interesting

I would completely disagree there, I played it fairly casually with the friends that I played it with, and the difference in levels was often more than one or two levels as well, and it didn't present us with many problems or issues.

The friends I play with often played alone as did I.

armed assault 2 is meant for squad play, the map is huge so even if you play with a lot of players you wont bump into many people.

You can't've been paying enough attention to the ease of the fighting then (or you were all overlevelled anyway). The difference in damage taken and dealt when you're dealing with enemies of a similar level to you is huge. Mostly depends on the level of the enemies and the Playthrough.

BF2 will always be the best battlefield games. The new ones are just trying to keep up with cod, which is ruining them. Also most the kiddies have gone from bf2 now so it really can give you some amazing games sometimes with 4 squads working together and a comander telling them where to go and where the enermys are weakest.
