***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

Certainly delivers on hype though, although knowing PD, most things will be kept under wraps, is there a UK Release date scheduled yet? If not i'll just end up importing the US one :)

Seems a wee bit dramatic, again, barely any ingame footage... If any.

ags

Look on youtube must be 1000s of videos of people driving around in GT5 and many from last weeks le Mans event with the new demo pod, quite a few from this weeks E3 no doubt.

No one has mentioned that the premium cars have the full damage model. Are these dlc or pay for cars? Would be a bit miffed if you had to buy the cars that actually deform and lose pannels. Its still a day 1 buy. Now to start saving for the G27

No I assume it just means that the premium cars are the ones that show internal damage as well as external, I read somewhere that the premium cars show cockpit damage and the other "non-premium" cars don't. No source sorry, it's just something I think I remember reading somewhere. I'm sure that cars like the NASCAR ones all have full internal and external damage though, given the nature of the sport, probably true for the WRC cars as well, at least I hope so. :)

If every one of the cars in the game doesn't have damage modelling then I won't be totally disappointed. I've enjoyed the other 4 GT games on console and GT for PSP just fine, and none of those have damage.

Also,

# As confirmed in a note on the Japanese site, the 800 “standard cars” in the game will not have interior view or high-beam headlights (new video of standard cars here, thanks Paskowitz).
# NASCAR pit crew’s actions have been specifically re-created.
# All cars will be able to “roll over” if involved in an accident.
# Damage may “not necessarily be applied to all races in the game”.
# You will be able to define your own password-protected online races with your friends, and you’ll be able to control all of the event’s regulations.
# “You can host ‘Track Days’, where everyone can drive freely on the track. You can try to shave down your laptimes, you can teach someone how to drive, or just enjoy drifting.”

Vehicular damage was also clarified:

Physics-Affecting Damage
This is damage in which the physics simulation is affected by alignment deviations, etc. This is damage that affects controllability, and the car may not drive straight, or it might become unstable in corners, etc. depending on the amount of damage. Affects all cars.

Dirt, Scratches, and Dents
This is damage that can be visually seen, and involves dirtying of the body, scratches and dents. Affects all cars.

Separation (dislocation) of Body Panels
This is damage in which body panels are dislocated from their original positions, or deform. Affects only premium cars.

This game is looking better by the day, please god let them have improved the physics since the Time Trail downloads :(

Hmm that leads me to think, when/if you reckon they will bring something out that recreates smells. We have audio, visual, touch (force feedback etc). Smell and taste are the only ones left :p

Is there a decent, confirmed car list anywhere yet? I found one but it was enormous and seemed to have every car ever made in it, so I've discounted it.

I'm hoping there are no E39's in it, otherwise I'm going to have to buy a PS3.

I don't think the official one has been announced yet. All we know is that there will be 1000 cars, a whole lot of Subaru's, Nissan's and Mitsubishi's and Ferrari at last. From the few unofficial car lists that I read it seems to be believed that BMW will be represented by the following:

135i Coupe (’07)
135tii Concept (’08)
M3 Coupe (’07)
Z4 3.0i (’03)
Z4 M Coupe (’08)

Obviously that's just pure speculation, it crops up on more than one forum, in contrast, the ones that were in GT Prologue are:

BMW Z4 '03
BMW 135i Coupe '07
BMW M3 Coupe '07
BMW 135tii '08

I saw that list and discounted it because there is no 135tii Concept - the Ti concept was a 4 cylinder 1 Series. Therefore whoever wrote the list is confused, and it therefore isn't an official list.

Then I found this list which is just ridiculous..

LOL! That list you linked is utterly ridiculous! :D

In Gran Turismo 5 Prologue the car is indeed listed as a "BMW Concept 1 series Tii '07". I checked in game, so that must be a naming error on Polyphony's part. No idea what BMW's will be in the full Gran Turismo 5 though, nothing official has been announced but if Polyphony stick to their confirmed release date then there should be some news in the next few weeks detailing an official car list. Hopefully.

Here it is in action in Prologue anyway:

Did you see the quote bout the ring? Something about when you race in the full 24hr event you will see people come an go, tents going up and the only thing missing is the smell from the BBQ.
