Hi,

Don't have docs to hand... does anyone know what the servicing interval for this engine should be (tis in a focus).

AFAIK it had one at 15,000 and 25,000... so that's 15 and 10k...should the next one be 15k later (at 40k) or 10k later (at 35k)?

Thanks.

12.5 I think let me check

Edit

Focus diesel upto 09/01 10k/1year
Focus diesel from 10/01 onwards 12.5k/1year

I think you were right with 12.5 - at least that's what the garage said - had a cunning plan to phone them... don't know why I didn't think of that.

Cheers :)

Well this thread seems to have run its course and what I've got to say doesn't merit a new thread, so I'll say it in here...

Just driven a Ford Focus 2.0 Titanium petrol pool car. It's an 09 with 22k on the clock.

It's an ABSOLUTE piece of crap! I didn't come in here to wee on your chips Jono, I'm sure you don't give a monkey's.

- It rattled, badly. Everything not made out of cloth seemed to rattle.
- The handbrake is obstructed by the arm rest.
- Everything felt nasty. Cheap fabrics, horrible plastics. Flimsy door handles.
- It was very, very slow even for a NA 2 litre.
- The seats were uncomfortable.
- The interior is loose and flimsy.
- The gauges and display look like arse, old-fashioned orange lighting and terrible trim.
- The steering felt sloppy.
- The centre console looks crap with it's stupid Sony stereo that looks totally out of place, even if it is better than the pre-facelift one.
- It's not even that cheap to buy.

Would not own, 2/10. The only things I did like about are that it didn't have a fuel cap, rather one of those stop-you-putting-the-wrong-fuel-in types, and that it looks acceptable from the outside.

Good day.

I'm suprised you didn't add that all the doors fell off and the engine conked out just as you limped it into sight of the WonderGolf with which to waft home in.

I would never, ever buy a Focus but I can't recall finding one anything like you've just described. Indeed things like steering feedback are praised as being way, way better than a car of its type should be. It also does 0-60 in 9 seconds - no rocket ship but about bang on for this sort of car. It's hardly 'very very slow'.

Still, it's had a hard life if its done 22k in a year of being a pool car

Agree its expensive, whilst popping onto the Ford site to point out how deluded you were about its performance, I noticed the cheapest base Focus is more expensive than the Mondeo

You have the worst purchase justification syndrome of anyone I've ever seen. You need to have a special, special need to justify the huge amount of money you wasted on that Golf to wade into a thread about an older Focus diesels service interval specifically to sound off about how crap you found the new model.

Potentially.

Even if the steering was the greatest of any hatchback ever made I still wouldn't buy it for the other reasons given. It was a rattly can of nastiness.

Notice, forum users that I still haven't mentioned my Golf. Obviously I am in a position whereby, having bought the car I did, I am unable to ever comment on a car again!

Did you try adjusting the steering? The focus has 3 settings which dictate the weight of the steering, "sport, normal and comfort". Could have been on the comfort setting which is meant to make it very light.

I had a similar experience in a new shape Golf TSI. It just felt like a 10 year old car inside and as well built as a car that was 10 years old.

I am much happier with the rattle free ride that my 14 year old soft top provides.

I didn't notice that, no. Do all models have that functionality?

sure thats only on zetec's

edit: i had a focus from new for 3 yrs and it didnt rattle, its not that bad if it sells so well surely.. its a good 2nd car in my opinion and would consider one for the girlfriend.

Thanks for that...I've Googled but can't find anything, even on the Ford website.

A second car for the girlfriend...resounding endorsement indeed!

When you say 'didn't rattle'...what are you comparing it to, cause this one sounded like it was purpose-built to rattle!

Regarding 'if it sells well' etc., some people are less susceptible to cabin noises than others. I can only imagine that people that buy a Ford Focus don't give two hoots about it, or have never tried superior hatchbacks in the segment.

Its on all trim levels aside from maybe lx i think, zetec upwards if i remember rightly.

Ahh maybe, but you have like 3 cack levels under zetec, so its not all.

Doubt Ghia had them either

edit: Ghia might have... so, LX, Studio, Sport and the other names for the super base models no... but Zetec, Zetec Climate, Ghia and titanium should have
