Another feather in Nvidia's Cap!

I haven't had any problems with the 10.6 drivers yet but I haven't done any heavy gaming. To be perfectly honest I think I lean slightly towards preffering nvidia cards though, there drivers do seem to be abit better and then they've got physx, cuda, 3d and all that junk. Not usually worth the price premium imo though.

If you had a display that doesn't have 1:1 pixel mapping, you'd soon be questioning the quality of NV drivers.

Also, if you're still using a 3rd party video player then you're well behind. The latest ffdshow versions bring all the features you could ever need, including bitstreaming HD audio and bluray subs support, into Win7 media center.

nVidia, the redneck's choice.

:D

Edit; 10.6 now official I see! :o Ninja edit. :)

Lol, feather next to the drivers that stopped the fan running :) both teams have issues with drivers, these 10.6 are rubbish tbh, some good gains for crossfire but more than the usual few seem to be having problems with them, il wait to see what 10.7 bring, 10.5 hotfix are working fine

What's the problem again? some xfire problems and VLC player not working, wow major problems  nearly as bad as Nvidia's GFX card killing drivers that turned fans speed down at high temps, 10.6 working fine here on single 5870, big song and dance over nothing.

I don't bother replying to posts that are out to get a reaction, simply RTM now.

Regarding VLC player, it's obvious it's on there end that needs fixing, plenty of other players out there that decode no problem on ATI hardware and for them to suggest ATI needs to fix its windows drivers is just LoL. Looks like a PR exercise on behalf of Nvidia. And they could'nt find a cheap mobo with Intel GFX on board to allow decoding on the millions of integrated Intel chips out there says it all really.

Yes I do agree. Both Nvidia and ATI have issues with Hardware and their software.

My initial thread was not to cause controversy or be a smart arse.

I guess I was just feeling a little bit frustrated becuase in the last week, have had issues with the 10.6 drivers and then see an article saying that software I use cant be used with ATI hardware becuase of their drivers.....

I guess was an unjust reaction. Also, so what if the 10.6's are crap, the 10.5 run great anyway!

well ofcourse they're gonna blame ati aren't they?

Also I have the 10.6 drivers not a single problem with them

Had no problems with the 10.6 drivers with my 4870, I don't understand why people jump on this bad drivers bandwagon.

Though going back a number of years when I had a 4mb ATI RAGE 3D card, thats what i call bad ATI drivers :p
