Brake Recommendation

If you want to go around the internet, shouting people down and disregarding their opinions just because you work in your dad's garage (or whatever it is you do) then that's fine by me.

motors has been royally wrecked with crap like this, and the so called 'expert' opinions from people who can't even read the thread they are commenting on

It's wrecked by the likes of you who assert opinion as fact and get in a royal strop when someone challenges you. There's no reason why you can't use braided lines on the road and that's my opinion.

What, exactly what you done?

Because your dad once had a car that had shiney lines on it.

Oooooooh, go you mate.

don't then

I don't care about my attitude, cause really its no better than what is displayed in here day after day stupid comment after stupid comment thread after thread.

Yet you shout your 'expert' opinion on something you obviously know little about. Braided hoses are something that do increase performance (might well be marginally but it's an increase) and they last longer than rubber. It's very common for people to upgrade to braided on road cars for that bit better braking. As Janesy also stated, some cars some with them as standard, do you really think these cars should be changed to rubber then as they 'have no use on the road'?

Not worth the effort mate. ;)

*leaves thread*

Biohazard, being the expert his is, missed out the main disadvantage of some designs of braided lines - if the rubber hose expands too much internally under extreme pressure, the metal can actually damage the rubber lines. But this isn't the case on all of them. As I'd love to stay and argue, it's really not worth the effort.

Did I say they have 'no use on the road'? No. I said they weren't great (IMO). Another tard that can't read, great.

Where was I shouting my opinion?

I left a small comment, some people asked why I said that so I gave my ******* opinion.

Wheres the shouting aspect to that?

What because I replied to paradigm? The points he raised were non starters in my mind.

I don't really see what this has got to do with you either.

'They don't last'.. as long as rubbers some rubbers last the age of a car some braided lines can rust after 5-6 years its 50/50 some will last forever its a toss a coin affair, and 'performance' is at best 1% less stretch in comparison with a pressure twice that experienced in fluid.

Been at google have we?

Expansion is half a % at best. So, blah to that.

Missed out you've got more chance of boiling up fluids too etc.

Main benefit of braided hoses are the connectors, which are not generally used on street versions (citation).

Yes I was speaking generally, I usually check forums to see what people think of the OEM discs before I decide to put aftermarket on as sometimes aftermarket can be worse than OEM like my mate found with his Seat Cupra, modding for the sake of modding isnt always a good idea

Which braided hoses have you been buying?

Last time i checked Stainless Steel doesn't rust......

Depends how cheap they are in all truthfulness.

Quality of the metal used...

Some palm off S/S products when they are really using chrome-moly alloy steel etc bit of debate about if even that can rust but I've seen very old ones that didn't look too clever at all.

Again, buy quality you get quality but I discount any massive improvements in having them, for having to buy good ones in the first place.

By all means use them, if you do as such I've no problem with it - I just wouldn't and haven't done so for myself. There is little night and day difference however, its just the 'done' thing now.

I think you need to calm down a little mate. It's just a discussion over brake lines!

I'm going to sit smug with my 0.5% benefit on my Goodridges. Cost me nothing and I'll be damned if I'm going to remove them for normal brake lines, especially at cost!

Blimey...leave you lot alone for 5 min and look what happens.....:)

I had braided hoses before and they do improve the brake performance, and I know people running some very modded cars that use them, like most things buying from a trusted company will mean problems will be min

My last car was a impreza UK turbo with Brembo disc/mintec pads and braided hoses and nice fluid, that worked much better then the set-up on the current car, but as people say the bembo disc are not the cheapest!!!

SO wanting info on possible combinations, that people recommed then I look into prices

anyone used http://www.godspeedbrakes.co.uk/ ??? prices are very good!!! £240 for all 4 discs (grooved)

I don't need to calm down any mate.

I was discussing it before people with no opinion starting rubbish mine off the cuff 'cause its the motors way.

You sit smug all you want, I wouldn't be telling you to take them off.

What I was going on about is not putting them on in the first place. Or getting better than that if you were.

Thing is most people won't just change hoses, they'll do it with a pad and/or disc change and so of course the performance will be different.

Godspeed are reputable, I've heard good things about them on more than one occasion.

Jesus, I suggest you go and have a tea break until your period has finished.

Cant be assed to get into the argument about braided lines but from my own experiences on tracks & road is that braided lines sharpen up the brakes, less pedal travel and generally fell more "positive" don't forget to use a decent super dot.4 fluid or a synthetic dot.5 if your calliper seals can take it. I use HEL braided lines myself, tip top quality and lots of variety's available - http://www.h-e-l.co.uk/

Not sure what discs are recommended on a scoob, cant see any problems with std brembos being good from factory, in the Evo world AP Racing & Performance Friction are used a lot (Have AP's myself) just dont go near EBC! lol

Pad wise you really things like the DS2400's/2500's are good all rounders but if you want a bit more stopping power you really ought to try out some Carbotech XP6 for fast road or XP8 if you will be doing track days! :D

My AP discs, Carbotech XP8's, braided lines make a sweet set up on 4-pot brembos, never been able to stop so quick!
