Used Bentley, Aston, Maserati and the like

Seriously, stop digging now - about 6 seperate people have noticed it, it's that simple. Continuing to argue about it is pointless!

This is epic. I have irrefutable proof that I do not mention my job at "every opportunity" and yet you still sit here and argue!? I don't care how many people have "noticed" it, because there isn't anything to notice!

One where servicing costs form part of the cost of running a car [/quote]

What, and potential faults do not fall under this "running costs" umbrella? Nor does the fact that a "consumable" item (of which the Conti GT has 4 of) costs ££££(£) to replace? Or even that not driving it for a few days/weeks can cause a whole host of issues that requires an hour's labour at a franchised dealer to probably rectify?

Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.

Nice link.

Either way - 24 threads is quite a lot of threads, don't you think? Especially for a forum where almost nobody owns or would ever own a Bentley. Infact, I'm suprised its as much as 24 threads. And thats not even counting the ones where the exact term 'Bentley' wasn't used. It's a good job you are not considering a career in the legal profession if you think that would class as 'irrefutable proof' :p It's really time to work out that your continued post style in this particular thread is doing you no favours at all, if anything it's just illustrating it better :p

Stop digging or you'll need to hire a JCB. Lots of people have noticed it which indicates it happens but you obviously don't realise you do it, thats all. Just keep it at the back of your mind in future and we'll all live happily ever after.

Now can we please get back to cars?

If it's fine to service a 3 Series at Fred's why not an Aston? What is different that simply requires higher cost labour etc? It's still just a car - fundamentally the mechanics are the same. I's expect a competent mechanic to be able to competently service a Micra, a 3 Series or an Aston, no matter where he worked.

Its not just the mechanics its the diagnostic equipment required and the experience of certain marques that is required to competently work on said vehicles.

Plus having the finances to actually buy some of the parts required for these cars, a lot of back street Freds just couldnt do it.

Totally not as simple as this.

Even with something as "mundane" as a 911 or an S-Class, both of which i have experiences of servicing, your standard backstreet place generally wont have the experience, or the equipment necessary do diagnose faults. I had a problem which turned out to be a sensor recently on my S-class, whereby it kept cutting out. The garage up the road looked at it with blank faces and suggested that they would try replacing this, that, and "oh its probably that". Went to a specialist, half an hour later it was fully diagnosed, completely to the contrary of the standard place.

Absolutely no way i would let a non specialist even near any of the cars mentioned in this thread, with the prices and implications of someone who doesnt know the car through and through potentially damaging it further and fitting incorrect parts.

Actually I've just gone into those threads and counted. I've personally mentioned my job 13 times (plus how many times I said it in that tyre thread)

"Every possible opportunity" my backside.

Ok cool, no problem, everybody who claimed to have noticed it simply imagined it then, sorry about that :)

Now, back to the cars! The other important question is - who sells warranties for these?

You got to go extended manufacturers really or in the case of Bentley, Hanwells in Uxbridge have the best non manufacturer warranty i have seen. Stephen Brown is a trooper mate, if your buying a Bentley or a Rolls, buy it there.

Most of the mainstream suppliers seem to specifically excluded these sort of cars?

I think a lot of specialist sales places have specially tailored warranties with the big companies.

Hanwells use the AA for example, but must have some clout with them when it comes to pay outs and claims from the results i have seen.

LOL you so can do when your in one of your moods. You and Robbie G were at it like Cat and Dog for months, completely oblivious to the fact everybody around you was just rolling their eyes at the petty argument.

You are getting pretty famous for missing the point by miles :p I said I don't wonder why I get up peoples noses, not that I don't get up peoples noses.
