Man has the following back story

Not many people know the real ME, a few know what I have had happen to me, in 1996 I was injured in the IRA attack on Manchester City Centre, that left me with PTSD, Then in 1999 I had a fall and crushed 3 vertabrea leaving me in hospital for 15 weeks, Then in 2007 I had my motorbike crash left me with some nasty injuries and it brought on the symptoms of my PTSD. Between 2007 and 2009 I had several TIA's, then in April 2009 I had a proper stroke.

Man decides to do a charity event for stroke victims, he hasn't got much money but does have a Fuji bridge camera.

At said event he falls over and breaks his camera.

He posts about it on TP just in general talking about it

50 minutes later...

A place to donate has been setup.

Overall?

2k raised, man now has a D300 and a lot of other great gear.

How it ended up: http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?p=2742883#post2742883

Man can now enjoy photography once more.

Made me smile that :)

er, so when i grew up, all my friends had Leica's, and my mum could only afford a Kodak disposable.

You guys wanna follow their lead and hook me up?

I'd settle for a D700.

Thats an awesome story, thanks for sharing phate. Nice to see generosity still lives on. Good luck to the guy.

That is brilliant, cracking story :)

I remember a thread on there where a little girl was getting into photography and everyone on TP clubbed together with old PC bits to get her a half decent PC to edit them on which was given to her as her birthday present :)

I've been following this from the beginning and it couldn't have happened to a more deserving guy. It's good to see my small donation along with hundreds of others have such a positive effect on someone's life. :)

And yet still people had to try to sour it over there as they do on here when people have donated to charitable causes.

The guy was fulling deserving of what ever he got :)

What? This thread on TP must be fake? Right? People are never kind on the internet?!

Joking aside, I've just read through all the threads now, and to mirror what others have said, it couldn't happen to a nicer person! It just shows how something relatively small can bring such a large amount of happiness to someone. Hats off to all the guys and gals involved!
