Euro "Slim" 360's Are To Have Blu Ray Built In :O

Games like Metal Gear Solid 4, Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2 wouldn't even be possible on 360, add to that newer multi platform games like Final Fantasy 13 are finally starting to take advantage of the PS3's hardware, which includes Blu-Ray.

Also, Cheets, you're a terrible troll. If you think Blu-Ray movies aren't worth it over DVD movies then you must be blind as well as stupid. Take your tongue out of Bill Gates' ass for a second and maybe you will realise that Blu-Ray is the future and the longer you stick with DVD's out of being pure stubborn, the longer you're living in the past. Millions of people disagree with you I'm afraid.

At the end you said "Hence Blu-Ray vs HD DVD" which didn't really fit into anything that you just said. If anything it just shows that your precious Microsoft backed a format which failed so much that even it's creator has started making Blu-Ray players, so what does that say to you?

erm what ????????? i take it youve never heard of multi discs ? the ps3 and xbox are practically identical in gaming performance.

the ps3 "might" technically be able to hold more data per disc.. but in reality that doesnt happen

The MGS4 1080p commercials would take up atleast a 4-6gb. Just cut them I guess if it came out on the 360.

I think MGS4 hit almost 50gb. Would be at least 4 DVD-9 discs.

Probably more than that. When you go down the multi-disc route it becomes very inefficient because much of the common game data has to be stored on every disc. Both consoles are low on RAM so the data has to be to hand all the time.

Once you watch a BluRay you don't wanna watch an old betamax DVDs any more. Lol I buy loads of ex-rentles of Blockbuster. They do a 4 BluRay movies for £20 on selected movies.

Errrrrm...

It's already been said that Metal Gear Solid 4 is probably around 50GB's worth maybe more... that's a lot of DVD's, chuck. So yeah, you must be right, NO PS3 games are bigger than the 4GB single layer and 8GB double layer DVD's right? Oh and it's not "Might, technically" it's does, definitely. Standard Blu-Ray's can hold much more data than even dual layered double sided DVD's

Get out.

True, but once you get used to the quality of a BR movie, you start to forgot about it and just enjoy the film instead. Since I got over the OMG LOOK AT HOW SEXY BRAD PITT LOOKS IN 1080P... I started going back through my old DVD collection and watching them... quality doesn't bother me anymore.

I used to only watch BR but now I can watch a movie on DVD or BD.

But remember that your PS3 does an excellent job of upscaling DVD's too. :D

I noticed a massive difference in my DVD's from playing them on an old player, playing them in my 360 and then playing them in the PS3. Although I do only buy Blu-Ray's now, no point getting DVD versions of brand new films in my opinion unless the Blu-Ray version isn't available, or is stupidly overpriced.

if mgs4's audio wasnt stored in lpcm (ie, 192k cbr lame instead) then it wouldnt take up half the space. dont forget, the game actually has only 1 fmv cutscene, the rest are rendered live. Yes, it still wouldnt fit one 1 dvd id have thought but two? yeah probably.

dont forget a lot of the data is duplicated across the discs, as is ALSO the case on the 360. This is for speed reasons.

another point - if MS decided that simply having a bluray drive was enough to sell the console then they would use one - the money they'd have to pay to sony is insignficant.

No one is denying that uncompressed sound was used and it filled the disk, where as compressed could have been used to get sizes down. It's just very stupid to say "In reality a bluray doesnt hold more data than a DVD"

I find it funny when people say things like, the consoles are equal in terms of performance and blah blah blah. And you say, yeah but PS3 does 7.1 surround sound uncompressed audio.... Whats the usual comeback? "Yeah well, It could have been done compressed through 5.1"

Not really the point.

It's like me saying, I have a ford Fiesta, that tops out at 80mph. And some guys says, Yeah well I love my Vauxhall vectra that tops out at 140mph. And then I go, Yeah well I dont want to drive more than 80mph so to be honest ours cars perform the same.

Of course they won't have to use Blu-Ray drives this generation, but what about the next generation of consoles? Games are already getting more and more graphically demanding, the consoles are lagging way behind PC's on what is graphically possible in today's games so I don't see it being unfeasable that the 8th generation of consoles are going to need a bigger storage medium than the dated DVD.

Well that comment was just ill-advised, but that's not the point is it? the point was people claiming those games arent possible on the 360 simply because they're 'too big'
Games like Metal Gear Solid 4, Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2 wouldn't even be possible on 360

that's next generation and probably years off. there arent an awful lot of games that weigh in at over 8.5gb, even on the pc, and those that do have been quite happily split in to two dvd's on the 360. bluray isnt needed for gaming, certainly not on the consoles at any rate and filling discs with repeat information to speed up reading, lossless soundtracks that arent needed and fmv with stupidly high bluray-movie levels of bitrate encoding isnt an excuse either.
