With a manual box, yea.

I would just hang on to that, i wouldnt be able to see it go having spent the time and money you have for what you would get.

Bumpers just dont look right to me. Looks very heavy, almost to much bumper, especially the front.

I actually prefer the look of late E60 M Sport's. Would still rather have a 335i all day over the new 5 mind you:)

Fair enough, I cant really comment as I havent been fortunate to drive either, but I seem to remember a lot of negative comments towards the new 5's steering?

335i sport on all accounts seems to be a brilliant car mind you. Cant see any reason why anyone would need anything else! The only thing that shocks me about newish BMW's build quality is the leather seems to wear at a terrible rate.

If thats what comes out, I'll be skipping. It's bland and no one would even look twice at it in M Sport guise. The wheels are a shocking far cry from the nice 19" option on the E60. I hope it looks better than that in real life, I really do.

Modern car interior leather is very very thin sadly.

The 330i seems to be the absolutely awesome all rounder - 0-60 in 5.9 seconds, 272bhp, 39mpg combined, £180 a year road tax, 155mph and 173g/km of CO2.

By contrast, the 335i is 0-60 in 5.5, 306bhp, 30mpg combined, £440 a year road tax, 155mph and 218g/km of CO2.

I'd never base car choice on road tax but the 330i seems like a stunningly engineered all rounder, it's nigh on 33% more efficient?!

Sadly BMW have now discontinued it in Saloon and Touring form, now the only N/A 3.0 is the 325i which is the same car but with loads less power. Stupid.

It's very plain and generic looking estate. I'm not sure what all the fuss is about - handling or performance maybe? Because it's certainly not over the aesthetics.

Yea, hugely generic with its deep sideskirts and noticeablely different front bumper

Remember it isnt the best picture, it's a scan of a computer generated image by the look of it.

Good points to be fair! When you look at the figures its pretty amazing really. Why on earth did they use the old engine in the 335i? Is the new 3.0 not up to the job of being turbo'd? Is the 335i really *that* much faster in the real world?

Apparently the older engine is more suitable for turbocharging because of the bore and stroke and lack of valvetronic.

Not sure really, sadly although I've driven the 335i it was an E93 with a full tank of fuel, a BMW salesman in the back and my girlfriend in the front so it felt no quicker than my 530i. I was hugely underwhelmed by the performance (Though in love with the rest of the car) until I did the maths and found that at the weight were carrying it had the same power to weight ratio as my car

Yes but the 0 - 60 times and BHP figures really don't do the 335i justice. The 335i, being turbocharged, will have a far greater spread of torque and power and be far more flexible. The 330i is a more highly strung, peaky kind of car - requires more of the driver to extract the full performance. So in reality the gap between the 330i and 335i will be bigger than the figures suggest.

Having said that the 330i is still impressive and is suited to someone who appreciates the qualities of an N/A engine.

A lot of people on PH have been saying the 330i is the better drivers car for exactly the reasons you describe.

But the 335i has awesome exhuasts :(

No turbos to go wrong with excellent performance anyway, a 330 has got to be the one hasnt it.
