i think we should get back on topic and stop talking bout chaotic. A prize would be cool but nothing would be fine as well. I think it is a really good idea. You could send the replays of to some of the commentators like HDstarcraft or Husky and they might cast some of them if you say it is a tournament. That would be pretty cool if you wanna get some exposure.

Although it has to be said, I've donated cash prizes to some of the beta tournaments. But among us here, I think it's good to play for fun and kudos

Will hopefully see some signs of this is the second phase of the beta which i am sure will be fairly soon (around 2 weeks time).
We could always do a phase 2 beta tournament to test that it all goes to plan and that the spreadsheets etc work well. Would also get us playing together as well which would be good. I would rather be playing with people that are good than some randoms!
I think the return of the beta will have some good changes.
I wouldn't hold out on the big requirements such as chat/group channels, lan play or cross region play.
I do hear though they have a 'better' unique identifier approach ready for the beta's relaunch.

I dont know why everyone is so bothered about the Chat feature etc to the point that they wouldn't buy the game! The actual gameplay is still as good just community is lacking a bit at the moment i guess. I would rather they launch on time and fix this issue later than delay this game any further!!!
It doesn't bother me that much, but I think it's remarkable they haven't included it. I mean this is meant to be a 'social' network, and having a the ability to meet and get to know people is pretty central to that.
The way they've geared it, it's really good if you know a lot of people outside of the game (i.e. in real life), but not so good if you have a gaming circle that you know only through gaming.

Yea i agree meeting people in game is harder. However this just benefits all of the forums etc where the players meet instead. One feature that annoys me is that you cant talk to your opponent in game in a 1v1. When i practice with friends it sucks! You should have the option to un mute them or something along those lines.

ok dane3388 you are added now obviously with so many brackets going on some games will have to be scheduled because i will be spectating to make sure of no funny business also I will have a irc setup for all you guys to join and report scores too. Just for clarification I meant if my site got popular that is revenue in its self. I don't care about prizes etc.. either I just wanted a incentive but as I said This is just PURE FUN. Sorry to have mislead you chaoticUK but it is just pure fun that's why its a forum competition.

Epic are you going to plan this for release or are you going to do something in the next phase of the beta. You should get up a list of players names within SC2 once it is up so we can all add each other as friends. Gives us a chance to play with each other out of the tourney as well.

Sounds good, need to start practising PvP/ZvP so next time i get matched with Robhu it wont be quite so embarassing

One of the developers a while ago basically said it would be out in the first week of July. I personally think it will be an open beta as well. This would help them test launch conditions and iron out any last minute issues. Would also get more people interested in the game and possibly boost their sales. (unless they make changes that suck then people will be put off!)
