anyone got expereince with this setup?

Just wondering what's the best bang for buck on both setup's.

Also just how good do 5770's fare in a xfire setup? I'm a Nvidia boy but looking to swap over to the darkside :p

are the drivers for dual cards any good for ATI?

I'd say go for the 5850. Always better to have a single card as it keeps things simple and uses less power. Also the drivers for crossfire on ATI are a bit buggy according to many many threads :P

Two 5770's are only quicker in a couple of games that have xfire profiles. Put even then the 5850 is more constant. With a decent 5850 you can clock it to closely 5870 speed.

No crossfire 5770's are faster in almost all games.

This review is against the 5870 which is about the speed of an overclocked 5850, also shows min fps

If your mobo supports crossifre, it's well worth it.

CF 5770 fer'sure.

Ran them myself for a while and it's a cracking setup, and great value for money.

I'm currently gaming on a 22" but considering going for another two 22" to give me the tri monitor setup.

Would the 2 5770's have enough grunt to power it or should I be considering a basic 5850 to start with then maybe adding another 5850 when I get my 2 other monitors?

I game at 1920x1200 on my 5770's, they might struggle though at that res though. For eyefinity i'd go with 58xx cards.

I play pretty much everything with a 5850 eyefinity setup. Mind you I decided better 3x1680x1050 then 3x1920x1080

so iun your opinion Xon the 3x22" would be a better option?
Basically I'm saying now is shoudl I go for a 5850 with a view to getting another 5850 when I buy my 2 other screens

I recently got two 5770's as a replacement (RMA) for my 4870x2. I had a thread about this on here - have a look.
In summary, they didn't ask me before they sent these 5770's - I would have preferred a single 5870 or even a 5850, which I bargained with ocuk for, but no go.

But, given some of the bad RMA replacement stories I've heard, from a performance point of view I can't complain as the benchies above show.
However, I've still yet to crossfire mine as Powercolor tight wads don't include the crossfire bridge connector in the box, and I'm still waiting for ocuk to send me one out (it's in the post apparently, sent last Friday).

Very potent setup, can't believe you didn't get a bridge when they sent them out to you. I hope you are happy with the performance when your bridge arrives :)
