I'm trying to sell my 330ci at the moment and it's just typical that it would develop a fault.

I went out in yesterday, had the windows open at first to let the hot air out and let the aircon get to temperature, after a few minutes I shut the windows only to realise the blowers weren't blowing. I went home as it was way too hot yesterday, I checked the fuses but they were all fine. I remembered seeing on the forum about the final stage resistor, ordered one today and after struggling around with my head stuck in the footwell I managed to swap it over.

Why did it have to go now? Still I'm only £40 down and the next owner won't have to worry about it failing.

Anyone else had problems spring on them while the car was for sale?

I've had the blower fan resistors go on me before on Honda's, easy to change though and £14 from Honda so no big deal.

Never had a problem whilst a car was for sale though, thats just harsh luck, my car is for sale I hope nothing goes wrong, cambelt snappage would be typical as its over due and I CBA to pay for it to be done as I dont want the car

I swear cars know when you're about to sell them - the day before the bloke came to pick up my Saab, the drivers window developed a mind of its own and wouldnt close

Lol, I should consider myself lucky that it went while I was in the car on my own, imagine on a test drive and we're both sat there sweating with the guy asking me what the aircon is like. :D

What model was this on, my wifes W reg Civic has a problem with the blower motor in that the fan only works on the highest setting and she's always whinging at me to fix it.

My dad is having my Accord off me - saves me selling it. Yesterday, I went to use the air con, and it wouldn't activate. After a short while, I realised it doesn't work without the blower fan being on :o

I knew this  , must be the whole selling it thing that's messing with my head :)

I'm going to visit your house in the middle of the night one of these days and steal your climate control unit, Iain. ;)

It the five door MB chasis, the two I did were 1.8 VTI's (MB6)

Its the same fault as some of the blowers work but not all

Go Honda, get the part and also get a pollen filter as theres no point changing the resistor if the pollen filter is blocked

Remove glove box, remove metal bar, pollen filter is in the little plactic drawer, hoover out the cavity of its nastiness, cant remember where the resistor is but its fairly obvious when you're in there

HTH

What's aircon?

I use one of those windy things and it makes the car cooler.

I called it Carma a few years ago on here.

Cars know when you have money.

They also know when you don't.

They also know when you are thinking about selling them.

When I sold my Corrado VR6, between listing it on eBay and it selling, I had Coilpacks, leads and plugs all fail one after another, and then the clutch slave cylinder.

I replaced the coilpacks leads and plugs all with genuine stuff at great expense, but was naughty with the clutch and just bled it they day it went (leaving the tools to bleed it in the boot for the new owner too, just in case :D )

That said, the buyer got a fantastic deal on it, picking it up for probably £600 less than others were actually selling for on PH etc. just weeks before.
