Hi all,

My GTX is dying on me so could do with replaceing it. Im on a bit of a tight budget just having bought a house :( So what do you think I should replace it with?

I havent really reached the limit of my GTX yet, I game at 1680x1050 so what do you think.

If your trying to keep to a budget go with ATI' s 5770 or 4890. Or if you wanted to stick with nvidia look around for a gtx260. All these should be around the £130 mark.

I will looking at 5850s but they are a little too much. Maybe could grab one 2nd hand. I would like to spend around £150-£200 max really.

I just feel if I buy a "side step" i will fell annoyed with myself :p (upgrade bug, etc)

I spotted the 5770s.. how good are these cards?

Well at that resolution a 5770 will be absolutely fine tbh..

When you say "fine" :p

Will the 5770 perform better then the GTX? In honesty would it be worth trying for a 5850? Im thinking of the upcoming games. (Crysis 2, F1 2010, etc.)

Keeping my options open here...

5830.... has more processing cores then 5770 a little less than 5850 with not much price increase over the 5770.

What do you think? :)

A 5770 will be a lot quicker than your old gtx. It would be quicker than 2 gtx8800 in sli

I seriously doubt this as I have a 5970 and get really high scores but I had a 5870 before with GTX I got 14000 marks in 3d6 and 17000 odd from the 5870. I was gaming for 3 years on a 30" with the 8800gtx a 5850 a friend has gets around 15k. Now 3d Mark is not really a good measurement but the 8800GTX is an awesome card, king of the hill for so long.

Saying it will be quicker than 2 in sli I think is utter rubbish.

In terms of performance SLI 8800GTX > GTX285 > 5770.
The 5830 is a good card, has a huge range of advantages over the 8800GTX.
BTW did you try the Oven trick? :P

Sorry guys. i was just going by some bench marks that put gtx8800sli about the same as 1 gtx260 (216sp). And now people say the 5770 is quicker than a 260???

5770 was about the same speed as the 4870, so about 25-30% faster than a 8800GTX but markedly faster with AA and new games. Cat 10.3s and above have probably increased that difference.
