Right then. I think it's time for me to update my computer a little bit.
Current spec: - http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1260295
Motherboard: Abit IP35 PRO
CPU: Intel Q6600
Video: Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT
Memory: 4x 2GB Corsair CM2X2048-8500C5D
Boot drive: WD Velociraptor 150GB 10k
OS: Windows 7 x64
Usage:
- Photography using Abobe Lightroom and Adobe CS5. The current setup is getting a little sluggish with Lightroom 3.
- Film editing
- Some gaming
And now I'm looking at these two components...
Intel Core i7 875K 2.93GHz (Lynnfield) (Socket LGA1156)
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-328-IN&groupid=701&catid=6&subcat=1272
Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Intel X58 (Rev. 2)
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-235-GI
Will these two play nice together? Or does anybody have any other suggestions in regards to motherboard/CPU combinations? I will probably need to replace my RAM again. Any suggestions as to what I should put in? Minimum 8GB ram.
I have also been using the stock cooler for my Q6600 CPU. It's been getting pretty warm, so I'm considering water cooling as an option now. It seems that many vendors are making simple DIY kits that minimises the danger of me shorting out and thus frying all my components. Any suggestions on a watercooler that works well?
Any help you guys could offer would be most appreciated. I don't have a specific budget set aside for this, but I'm trying to keep it below £1000.
Thanks!
