Evening all.

The summers here, well and truly. The time is now, where boat owners should unit and litter the motorways, town roundabouts and b-lanes with there vessels, looking for the nearest slipway to launch. By trade I am a marine engineer but for the 2 or so years I have been, I've never owned a boat myself until today.

We've had this boat sat in the yard since I started with the company and its been calling my name since the day I arrived. Well this morning I took the plunge and made the owner a daft offer, of which he accepted, delighted. So now this evening, I am the proud new owner of an 18FT Fletcher with a 175 Mariner V6 outboard.

Granted the boat is abit of a stinker at the moment and the engine has overheating issues but in my field of work this is not an issue at all. On the cards is an engine rebuild, a re-trim, hydro steering and new instruments. It'll be hitting the water in about 2 weeks !

This is the only pic I have at the moment, more will be up tmoz.

His words, "bloody great hole in the water he threw money into"

My grandfather used to have a speedboat and that's pretty much what my parents say about it. That and the fact it never worked as it was wheeled out only two or three times a year...

Pfft bunch of pansies in your motor boats;)

Got one of these

Meh, I spent 3 years in my uni sail and powerboat club and went out in a dinghy about 3 times. Slow and boring most of the time. Me I much prefer the sound and speed of a big outboard blasting me along in a nice big swell.

When I get the money I'll either get a Zapcat or a Cougar (I wish)

I have a sea ray 240 sundeck with a mercruiser 350 in it, which I share with two mates and their families. Best boat I've ever owned. Good for wakeboarding and bay hopping but has the comfort of a much larger boat. Can seat 12, plenty of drinks space, showers, shade, storage etc.

My boat at home is a mighty 3m inflatable with a 2.3hp 4 stroke which is on the thames. I'm about to take the dogs for a row in it now.

Pfft whatever! You weren't doing it right, I imagine you were pottering about in some borefest topper or something;)

Sailing is the way to travel guys!!!

And these are the most awesome boats ever... For any naysayers who think sailing is dull!
