Because I have, yay. Thought I'd share my experience if that's ok/of interest.
I used this place (volkswagenspares.com sister site) quite a few months ago to get a replacement (recon) gearbox for the vRS. Part of their service was to take in my old gearbox and, provided the casing was serviceable, refund me a surcharge of £150. Super I thought, I won't have to cram it in my wheely bin or make a coffee table out of it.
My new recon box arrived and was fitted by my mechanice guy and everything worked fine. The Volks-Apart people had my old one picked up and after a week or so I called to find that as I had hoped, my casing was fine (my guy had opened it up anyway so I suspected it should be ok). "Oh jolly good, when shall I expect the cashback in my account?" I ask with much anticipation, "oh in the next three to four days sir".
That was in late January/early February. I chased them up pretty consistently ever since, and after a written demand for payment still received nothing. Every time I call I'd get either:
"Oh that's strange, I'll call you back" x 1000
"Only Warren can approve the transfer, I'll ask him and call you back" X 100
"Ok Warren has approved, I've sent the money, expect it in three to four days" X 2
So, take what you will from this. I'm sure I'll be advised to do the small claims court thing, which I intend to.
UPDATE: Ok, today I finally have the money in my account, after much calling twice a day. Hurrah, what.
