Hi all :)

Just sitting here with a bit of hayfever symptoms, blocked nose, itchy eyes/throat etc... I've had it every summer of my life and have been looking for some things to help it by!

At the minute I'm putting nettle tea in with my normal "Tea" teabag, which apparently helps (can't drink the nettle tea on it's own ).

Anyone else do anything that helps?!

Cheers :)

I use Acrivistine (Benedryl).

It's really fast acting, non drowsy and seems to last a whole day!

Unfortunatly there is no generic equivalent... but Morrisons do a 12 pack for £3

These sound interesting, but are they just re-packaged versions of what I'm taking already?

Sainsburys non-drowsy hayfever & allergy relief
Loratadine 10mg Tablets

Work for me ^^

Yeah, I'm using the Tesco ones at the minute. They seem to help a bit, but not enough. (Am I expecting a miracle? haha)

Hayfever is also making my summer a misery yet again.

I heard in a few years there will be an injection that will stop it, I live in hope.

Generally I use benedryl if I need it, although I sometimes find it makes me feel drowsy anyway, they seem to work though!

Leave England! Ever since I have been living abroad I dont get any hayfever at all.

Yeah, I don't tend to get it so much by the sea (obvious reasons), but I live in Leicester, heart of England, so have pollen no matter which way the wind blows :(

That'd be amazing, and I shall live in hope with you... Hayfever is awful, I'd give so much to get rid of it.

an immune system

Well if you were ever kind enough to donate me yours, then that would be great.

I use cetirizine as well, it's not always enough though. In fact this summer is the worst for several years for me. They do say on the packet that they may affect your driving reactions but I don't feel drowsy while taking them.

Thing is, are these non-drowsy? A lot of the tablets make me feel like **** even more, and most of all you can't really drink on them! :)

Yup, non-drowsy. Just take one a day :).

And I've not heard anything about not being able to drink while on them :o

Please excuse me for intruding on this thread, I personally don’t suffer from hay fever (not yet – or ever I hope!), but a work colleague does and uses this:

http://www.hay-band.co.uk/

He got it last year and swears by it now – puts it on and within 10-20 minutes he’s fine, and has only recently had to use eye drops a couple of times as this year has been really bad apparently.

It sounded like complete BS to me, but having seen what he’s like on medication and then using this, it’s like night and day.

Not 100% sure how the thing works, it has a hard plastic notch that has to be positioned exactly on a certain spot on your arm, if you don’t get it in the right spot it makes you feel ill, from what he’s told me, but once you’re used to placing it it’s fine.

Just thought I’d share this with the good, and suffering, folks of OcUK :D

Mustard!

On a serious note, I've been taking some tablets each morning and its getting better as the week goes on, first time I've ever had hayfever this year. Stingy eyes, blocked/tickly nose and lots of sneezing. not fun :(

Haha, well it's an ingredient in some of them (the normal shop branded ones are have it) where it mixes with drink bad... one pint and you're drunk kind of bad! And it's not a good drunk either, just feel like crap.

I may look into these though, cheers :)

Nah that's fine, and thanks a lot for posting! I'm all up for these kind of things, even if it's just placebo effect, if it works, then it works!
