Nvidia GeForce GTX 480 SLI vs. ATI Radeon HD 5870 Crossfire

It does look like ATI need to work on their crossfire tech. The Fermi SLI scaling is pretty damn good, it just had the bad luck of being paired with cards that aren't worth it on their own =/ If the GTX470 came down to 240-250quid, I'd have two of them over a 5970

Whats with metro. Why do game companys bring out these games that dont run on the top hardware its stupid and pointless. Ive never played crysis and wont buy crysis for that simple fact.

If you're expecting Crysis to run almost flawlessly then it probably won't unless you have at least a tri sli 285gtx or sli 480gtx. However, when I played it on 2gb ram with a stock AMD 4400 dual core cpu and an 8800gtx I didn't have any major issues until nearer the end of the game. It ran well considering that some of my hardware was beyond second generation. :)

Nah techspot are spot-on, not in the least biased to any one company.

Usally they are yeah, but why did they test and include scenario's which are clearly memory limited on their model choices.

They could have used the 2gb version if they where including 2560x1600 benchmarks, as thats what they where released for. Instead they posted a benchmark with 2fps when they know the card wasn't ment to run that.

How about they benchmark some games where 2gb 5870's are put against 1.5gb 480's where the 480's are memory limited. Accually dont, that would get them black listed, which is good for no one.

Would have been a good review to compare sli and xfire if they hadent messed up there testing methodology.

8x aa at 2560x1600? :p:D

Sure is mad over there.

Anything over 1920x1200 and I stick to 0-2x aa and the only reason I run 8-4x aa at 19x12 is becuase there is enough spare power with most games.

Really don't see the point in benchmarking solely at a resolution the majority of users don't use.

Very informative.

Then again not everyone uses crossfire 5870s and gtx480s but those who do probably have a monitor to justify their setups. So to them, this is very informative.
