I'm looking for some more tracks/artists that focus mainly on vocals, with nice harmony. Doesn't have to be strictly a capella.. for example two of my current favourites are The Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkle and The Fleet Foxes White Winter Hymnal. Also, Imogen Heap's Hide and Seek is amazing.

My mum, bless her, recommended Bread.. but i'm having trouble finding the sort of thing im after in there.

Anyone have any recommendations?

The Beach Boys, Queen and Abba use some pretty good vocal harmonies, but I'm guessing that's not quite what you're after.

Oh, ELO too. In fact, listen to Wild West Hero by ELO right now.

Other good ELO ones are Sweet Talkin' Woman and Mr Blue Sky.

During the 80s I gigged all around the country in a very close 4 part harmony band and our music consisted of :
The Eagles
Poco
Orleans
James Taylor
Jackson Browne
Styx
CSN&Y
The Hollies

Maybe one by a band you haven't heard of before:

This is actually a cover (the main vocal is from the original track) of the backing vocals, but it sounds pretty good!

I can't recommend The Dear Hunter enough by the way, their main writer/vocalist/keys player is a great singer and their 3 albums are awesome especially for the vox.

It's not a cappella, but lots of harmonising. :)

One of the most amazing tunes EVER that I play quite a lot.

I actually read my GUITARIST magazine today and I thought 'Is that Naffa sitting in the audience?' and then I turned the page and there you were.

:D

Did you also see the picture of Jeff Bridges that I managed to sneak into the photograph? He was stuck on the face of my guitar in the group photo. ;)

Goes to the car to get it out

Update:
I can see something on it but can't make it out.
That is you sitting behind the bird with long hair?

I'm not really sure to be honest. I really like Jeff Bridges, I saw the photograph and the guitar close to one another and just decided to merge them into one.

Expecting to get flamed for this, and it proably not what you are looking for, but

Ignore the talking crap at the beginning, they start singing about 40seconds in. Oh ignore the band name and give it a chance.

The original and best, and already suggested in my original post...

That BSB vid prompted me to listen to the best of The Beach Boys this morning. Well worth a listen for some amazing harmony work.

Just remember it was mainly one bloke and Barbara Ann was definitely done by one bloke.
That so? How disappointing.

In other news, it occurs to me that the OP might be very well served by some gospel music, or music derived therefrom... Motown, perhaps?
