OP,

Performance will be lower if you overclock the memory to far as error correction will kick in a slow the memory down as it resends the data. Try again at 1250Mhz on the memory.

Can i ask did you get the Stock 5870 from OCUK ?

im after a second to crossfire but want a stock cooler one. OCUK cannot say for sure what cooler comes with what card unfrotuneatley.

problem with the Cosmos, there's not actually that much space benind the motherbaord tray to hide cables I need to get the drimel out but I can't be **** at the momemnt. Will do this when the 5870 goes WC.

I've not really understood these "only if you have a higher res. monitor" conclusions. You're spending a lot of money on these high end graphics cards, and if you game on say 1680x1050 (as I do at the moment), then you're getting get a longer life out of it, making them even better value for money.

When I first bought my 4870X2 I was using a Dell 22.2 inch lcd which allowed me the use of up to 1680 x 1050. Although it clearly is better at 1920 x 1200 now, I still saw massive gains at the lower res.
