Indoor cat + windows

Lol OcUK's RSPCA Wing are out in force tonight.
LOL at all the pathetic "keeping a cat inside is cruelty" , what a load of rubbish.
I have a bengal cat and keep him inside , he is very happy and we often take him out into our large garden under supervision. He will be even happier when collect I Bengal no.2 next month :) .

To be fair if you have a large house then having house cats is hardly cruel, my two little guys love our town house! Not all of us want our cats to face the possibility of being shot at, run over, raped, set on fire or stolen by todays scummy twisted youth :).

This . I saw a group of chavs throwing stones at the local cat the other day.. why just why??!

so once in how long?

Pretty much all of my cats have taken a bit of encouragement to go outside and didn't got far at first.

But once they get used to it they are fine.

So you forced them and now they probably go out just to avoid being repremanded? If you're going to jump to conclusions and scream blue murder, I can do the same right?

But you take dogs for walks twice a day, the cat is essentially your prisoner. Nice one.

Yeah, because taking a dog for a walk twice a day is the same as roaming free in a pack, right? It's still cruel, if you want to look at it that way.

My cats aren't prisoners. They can go outside if they want - 2 of them just sit there bored and eat some grass, then wander back inside. Cats are happy inside - to most of them it's the good life. We're not talking about wild cats - we're talking about DOMESTICATED cats. The clue is in the name.

You have cats, but as i mentioned not all cats are the same. Our oldest cat Casper we have had him 12 years - he goes outside and has from when he was a kitten had his injections etc and was old enough to go outside.

Yet as soon as we close the door within a few mins he will be sitting at the door wanting to be back in. He was never trained to do this we never got him into a habit to be like that it is just the way he is.

All cats are different - all 3 of our cats are different when it comes to indoors/outdoors

Would he enjoy even prefer time outside? Think so
No , we once left the door open all day and he went outside for a little , got scared by a car and came straight back in , and as I said he often goes outside in my large garden supervised.

Jesus mother8888888 boobies, will someone close this thread already, the amount of slagging that is going on is surely against some kind of rule. Also this debate could never be solved so shut up shot already ;D

Supervised?

Like kids from primary school when they go to the library they are supervised, you have to let your little ones grow up eventually.

It's pretty entertaining to see geeks getting het up about animal welfare, it at least shows that the levels of blinkered fanboyism exhibited in the hardware forums are universal on other subjects too

I knew this thread would fill up with anti-indoor cat people who think they know everything. Like someone else said, its not all cut and dried and there is such a thing as an indoor cat which have been bred that way. I have a Maine **** :)
